Pain-free Wart Removal?

Hello - my daughter (almost 7 y/o) has had warts on her hands - especially her fingers - for a long time...probably since she was two or three. They seem to be spreading - and she is very "self-concious" about the warts. She even has some spreading up on the underside of her wrist. I have tried the at-home freeze treatment, that you buy at the pharmacy. She absolutely hated the freezing and burning that came from pressing the liquid onto her wart. She has let me try this two times, once on her hand wart, and once on her toe wart. I haven't seen any wart "go-away" from treatment. Does anyone have any suggestions of any "pain-free" wart removal. Her Dr. told me that her body is fighting off a virus, and eventually her immune system will be able to fight it off and the warts will stop...but what do I do in the meantime?

What can I do next?

Hello,
I am a chiropractor in Birmingham. I have had great success with Castor oil and wort removal. It is virtually pain free. If you would like a quicker response you can mix some baking soda with it, but it may sting a little.
If you would like more info let me know!

My daughter had the same problem. She had to have them frozen off at the dermatologist. It worked well and she has no more warts. :)

Okay. Warts are caused by a virus.

Get to a Better Health, Whole Foods, or any good health food store. Or go online. what you want online would be Homecure.com. SilvaSolutions is the product name. I would get some liquid IN your daughter to knock out the virus. And don't overload on it. I would recommend the silvasolutions salve. This worked after freezing didn't.

If you want to keep in mind for future conditions, applying garlic (like the minced stuff ina jar) and raw onion, switching back and forth each night, also works. Get the extra long Curad bandaids. One night onion (just a couple of fresh minced pieces), the next minced garlic or the garlic juice (you can apply the juice directly to the gauze of the bandaid).
Both treatments have worked on my kids both with plantars warts, toe warts or eruptions on the skin.

I had warts when I was young and my mom would buy liquid vitamin E capsules and cut them open and put the liquid on. It got rid of the warts every time.

A former co-worker of mine would wrap duct tape around the warts and leave it there for a week. It sounds silly, but it worked.

Sometimes you just have to go to a dermatologist. Don't know where you live. I took my grandkids to Dr. Lisa Mans-Dulac on Mack in Grosse Pointe Woods. Mostly female staff and very nice folks.

Hi J.. I recently had a wart removed from my thumb that had been there for a year. I had tried many over-the-counter meds but nothing permanently removed it. I finally went to my general physician and he froze it off. He mentioned that the over the counter medications are not strong enough to remove most warts. Try seeing your regular physician for removal. It didn't hurt a bit.

I use the medicated patches at night. I have two kids that get warts repeatedly. Get them early and it takes less time. It does take time so be patient. I have tried the duct tape and they come back, etc. We did the patches at night, so that it wasn't as noticeable in school etc.

J.; not sure on this, but i had a freind tell me when she was about that age she too had warts on her hand, but her grandma knew of a home remedy , she said her grandma cut open a potato and put some on her warts, and then put her hand in a plastic bag with the potato all night long and by morning they were gone, now this was from a kids perspective but there might be something out there that works like that some home rememdy, she does not have warts any more, so she swore it worked, perhaps there is truth to it, it would be worth while to find out, ask an older person, they might know some of it, or im sure things can be posted online, either way have a good day D. s

soak a cottonball in apple cider vin. and put it on the spot-then put duct tape over it-every night for about 4-5 nights-it`ll turn black and fall off! Very interesting and it WORKS! Also zantac every day for about a month. My daughter had them and worked like a charm!

I would do two things: 1. see a dermatologist and 2. press your ped. If she has a virus...is there something you can do to boost her immune system...?

Duct tape does work for warts. Cut a piece of duct tape to fit the size of the wart. Leave it in place for 6 days, then remove for one day. You may need to cover it with a bandaid to keep it in place for that long. When you take it off, use an emory board or callous remover to pare back the dead skin on the surface. Keep repeating until the wart is completely gone.

My 3 year old daughter had a huge wart on the tip of her toe. Her pediatrician told me to try the over the counter stuff. So I got a bottle of CVS brand wart remover. The kind that comes in a bottle and it has a brush (like a nail polish type). Anyhow, after lot's of soaking, and wart oil (that's what we called it) it finally came off. I think you have to be pretty persistent!
Good luck,
R.

You can try some Compoud W. (Use the real stuff, not the generic or the band aid type.) My doctor told me to let it dry on the wart then cover it with duct tape. The duct tape will pull off the loose layers when you remove it for another application. That should help. If not I would ask youdoctor if he does in office freezing or burning them off. My oldest son has had a time of it with warts on his elbow. The doctor gave him a local anestetic for the burning and he was fine. Then freezing off the next ones my son said it wasn't that bad even without a local anestetic. If your doctor isn't willing to do it then I would either go to a dermatologist or find a new doctor.

Hope this helps - S.

IF your daughter has had warts since she was two or three and they're spreading, they're not going to go away on their own. her immune system has accepted them and will not be fighting them off anytime unless she's taking antiviral meds. Also, if her doc doesn't know that...I'd get a new doc. At least get a second opinion. Best of luck!!

Duct Tape. Sounds weird, but many have had great results, especially on children because it's painless.

or just 'google' removing warts with duct tape. Good luck!

Is the doctor she's seeing a dermatologist? I've had warts removed (as an adult though) by a dermatologist and it does not hurt. They freeze the wart and it heals. Maybe you should contact a pediatric dermatologist's office and ask for advice.

Hi my 9 yr old had the same problem. She now has 2 in the nose area. (She doesn't even pick her nose). Anyway I went to one Dr. He froze them and they never wnet away. (she has 5; 1 on each finger and 2 on nose) I went to a new Dr. about 1 month ago and she froze the nose ones and put some sort of med on the fingers didnt' hurt at all. after 24 hours I had to scrub the stuff off her fingers. They blistered just a little and she said it wasn't too painful. We just went back last week and she applied mor med for the fingers and froze the nose ones(she uses a numbing cream so it doesnt' hurt). One on the nose is now gone and the ones on her finger are almost gone. I hope this helps. The Dr. that we went to is Skin and Vein Center on Mound just South of Hall Road. Good Luck.

There spreading because you haven't got rid of the original one. This is going to be a long process it always is and they are painful. Because you have so many and you haven;t taken care of them sooner knowing shes had them for so long I would see a dermatologist. My daughter has had one for 6 months and we was doing compund w with the dr schols wart removal for 3 months and than we went to the dermatologist. He is freezing it ever two weeks and in the mean time we put compound w on with a piece of duct tape to cover and seal it like a bandade. But you want the duct tape to completly cover it and not let air in. You leave it on as long as you can. If she baths change it. other than that leave it on. We have been doing this for a month in a half and her wart is almost gone. In 2 weeks we will find out if we are done with the dermatologist. The same thing happened to my son we had to do the same with him and I . It is a virus that runs the body and between sufficating the wart and your ammunine system it goes away. With no treatment there just going to spread. The dermatologist told me yesterday to that if she is in a pool she should have it covered because they are contages if someone rubs up against it they could possible get one. So I would go t o a dermatologist because she has so many they might be able to surgically remove them.
