I am almost 6 months pregnant and have been having a lot of not intense but ongoing pain in my lower abdomen. This is my 2nd pregnancy and I didnt experienced this last time. My husband is very concerned and tells me to call the doctor. I am not really worried, I have read you get aches and pain as your uterus stretches and all. What I would like to hear from you girls is that everything is all right, you have been here also, and it is perfectly normal. Now if it isnt then I want to hear that too. Thanks SO much!!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I went to the Doctor on the 21st and told him what was going on. He checked me and we listened to the baby's heartbeat. Everything is fine. He said that with 2nd pregnancies that the baby can get places the 1st could not and move more causing pain. Good news all around except to expect more. Glucose test next visit, so I cant wait. :op

I had pain in my 4th pregnancy in my lower abdomen. The Dr. said it was my ligaments that were being torn or stretched. But it was nothing serious.

my second baby was about 2 pounds bigger than my first. At about 6 months with him, I was having those pains. It was that he was so much bigger. My doctor said as long as I wasn't spotting that it was fine. He offered some pain management options if they got too bad. They weren't extremely painful, just annoying so I skipped the pain management.

Also, later I started to have contractions because of being dehydrated. Even if you are drinking tons of water, if you don't get enough iron, calcium and vitamin C, your body can not really process the water you need. It was a hard lesson that I had with both pregnancies.

Hopefully that helps some!

I'm sure everything is fine. I have only been pregnant once, but I experienced slight pains in my lower abdomen on and off the whole time. I was told that it was one of two things causing it: first, I wasn't drinking enough water, and second, I was carring my son very low and his head was putting pressure on everything in my lower abdomen. A friend of mine, during her second pregnancy, was very uncomfortable because her two children were so close together that her muscles and stuff never had a chance to go back to their original places. I hope the rest of your pregnancy goes really well, and don't hesitate to call your doctor if you feel you need to. That's what they are there for. I kept mine on speed dial. Good luck!

A.,
I also have 2 daughters and a son and with my daughters I had more pain in my lower stomach because I carried them both in my lap. They never fell down they were already down there from the beginning. My son was up really high and I had trouble breathing but not as much aches and pains. Hope it helps. C.

Sounds like growing pains. I fell to the floor, the pain was so scary!!! I thought I was loosing the baby for sure. I have a high pain tolerance too...
Braxton Hicks? Maybe!
Now, you go to the Doctor!!! We all love our fellow mommies, but we cannot ensure your health. God bless!!!

When I carried my son, I had alot of pain---some in my belly, but I was told that it was stretching and that I needed to take frequent breaks (majority was in my back). I did have a bladder infection and he was born 2 weeks later. He was 6 weeks early.

Hi there! I just had a baby 6 months ago and my second pregnancy was totally different than my first. I can't say either way wether it is normal or not. The only thing I can say is if your husband is freakin then maybe call the doctor if it continues. Husbands feel totally out of control over something that is just as important to them. If it's nothing you have wasted like 5-10 min, but if something is wrong it is way worth it. Either way he won't feel totally out of control. Good luck

I had a lot of unessary pains while I was pregnant due to dehydration. I wasn't drinking enough water for the both of us, and it was causing high blood pressure, back pain, headache, and contractions. I was told to go home, prop my feet up, be very lazy, and drink lots of water until I felt better. Drinking lots of water(and don't forget the milk) helped me feel so much better through out my pregnancy. I get so busy sometimes that I don't realize I haven't drink anything all day.

I am 37 with 3 wonderful kids. I had alot of pains during my last pregnancy. Although every thing is probably perfectly fine, I would suggest you at least call your dr just to check in with him/her. Good luck!!

Hi A., I'm nearly 6 months pregnant, as well :) I'd suggest at least calling the doctor and describing the pain. It will go a long way to at least helping your husband calm nown some :) and at least put some ease to your mind, too.

The best advice I ever got while I was pregant was "trust your insticts." Aches and pains are very common in pregnancy and if you feel that it is fine than it probably is. Maybe mention it to your caregiver at your next appointment, but I wouldn't worry, your body knows what it is doing.
Congratulations, and good luck!

I also had pains but I had Urinary tract infections and some gall bladder issues. It very well could be normal but not worth taking a chance on. I would call your doctor and let them decide if they would like to pursue it further.

Hey A., it sounds like it could be growing and stretching. It could also be Braxton-Hicks contractions. With my second and third pregnancies I seemed to be more uncomfortable earlier on. It probably isn't anything to be too concerned about, but if it would make you, or your husband, feel better you could call the doctor. There should be a nurse or someone to answer questions during the day over the phone. I wish you the best of luck!

I know this may sound funny, but it makes me think that you just are experiencing gas! I just had a child and I had similar pain only finding out that it was gas. Believe me it feels (at times) unbearable and you automatically think something is wrong. I'm not positive though, you seem to be getting great advice from others too. If your really concerned you should consult your doc. Hope it works out.

Hi A.. I had pain and braxton hicks with both of my girls. If you have any question, I would ask your doctor. Even after I went through the same thing with my first, I called my doctor with my second. It just made me feel better. That's what they are there for. Going in and getting checked was great for me! I hope this helps.

I had pain in the lower abdomen with my second child. My doctor just said that my uterus had grown really fast and it pulled a ligament. She prescribed pain medicine for me to take when it hurt really bad.
