We went to Mexico in November and stayed at Secrets Maroma. We loved it. The beach was amazing, and the resort caters to couples so it's very romantic.

Hi A.. I am a Travel Agent in Flower Mound and a MOM of a blended family of 7 and 12 wonderful Grand Kids.

There are lots of wonderful all inclusive resorts in Cancun,Mazatlan, and Cabo San Lucas. The cheapest times of the year to go are May and the fall. Definitely don't go in March when all the Spring Breakers come.

A week in January lets say at a 5 star resort is running between $3000-$3500. If you would like to give me the dates and your budget I will be happy to send you some quotes. Feel free to call me ###-###-#### also with questions.

Thanks,

7 years ago my hubby and I took our honeymoon to Mexico on the Mayan Coast just south of Cancun and just North of Playa del Carmen. We stayed at The El Dorado Suites & Resort. It was wonderful. It is all-inclusive, but not all buffet food - they had like 5 different themed restaurants to choose from that were all good. They also had a very nice spa. Also, it was adults only, so no kids running around, which was nice. They gave us a honeymoon package that included things like a massage for 2 including a massage lesson, and a private candelight dinner for 2 on the beach! They may have something like that for aniversaries too, I would ask! There was a jacuzzi tub in our room. The place was beautiful. They arranged tours if you were interested in venturing out too. We too a tour that was part snorkling trip and part cave/jungle trip that was fabulous! They are also one of the closer resorts along the coast to Cancun, so it is easy to take a day trip there and the resort even has shuttles to take you there. We loved it! It was 7 years ago, and I know Mexican resorts change names/change ownerships often, so I hope its still there - its truly a gem! Good luck and have a great trip! I'm so jealous!!!

Years ago a friend got married and honeymooned in Isla Muheres, and came back saying it was the best kept secret in Mexico. LOVED it there. Not sure about now, but might be worth checking out.
Also, another friend just got back from Playa del Carmen and loved it there. I can't share any details however.

I love Cozumel, it is a small island and extremely safe to roam about on your own. You won't find as many adults only resorts and some are quite as nice as the mainland. Itis surround by coral reefs so that sand is not as soft, and you should wear swim shoes in the water. But the snorkeling can't be beat. I love feeling comfortable traveling the island without fear of of problems. Petty theft is about the worst. Few issue with police, just a fund safe place. We take our son with us.

If you do choose Coz, make sure you fly into the Coz airport and not the mainland, taking a ferry while troublsome can be time consuming.

I think it's smart to consider a large, corporate resort that relies heavily on American tourists. Given the instability and violence of Mexico, and now that it's a "revolution" year, these places (like Sandals) are going to take measures to protect their customers and their businesses. My sister-and-law and boyfriend recently went to Cabo and they pretty much had the whole place to themselves.

This is where my husband and I love to go. The beach is great and it's right in downtown so you can experience all of the great culture as well.

If you choose Cancun, the Omni hotel is very nice and food was pretty good. I was there not long after the tsunami, so the beach wasn't as nice as it should have been, but I'm sure by now that has all been improved. Good luck in your search!

Any of the Riu resorts are usually great. We always go to Playa del Carmen. Gorgeous and not to many teenagers! It's more family friendly instead of a party town. Don't get me wrong, you can still go out and have a great time. And its no more than a half hour ferry ride from Cozumel.

My husband and i just went to Cancun and stayed at Le Blanc...5 star AMAZING hotel. The service was wonderful. We left feeling so pampered and relaxed.. The beach was amazing as well.. The hotel is set to be like a spa everywhere you go complete with aroma therapy, bath salts, and pillow menus...all included-very relaxing yet within walking distance to malls, clubs etc...It is adult only so no kids or teens running around. Look on line-we would definately go back. Good luck.

My Husband & I went to Cancun for our 20th wedding Anniversary (we will be celebrating 30 yrs in July 2010)We stayed at the Omni on the Hotel strip.

First of all, I would not do an all inclusive. You are better off paying for your drinks (including water) as you order them as it is less than the extra $$ you pay for all inclusive up front money (which will never come close to the pay as you go) & you WILL get tired of the same food in whatever hotel you stay in...If your from TX and enjoy the food here, the Hard Rock Cafe is familiar food for regular type meals in Cancun & ANY place that serves Sea Food is going to be really good. When we were there we would walk from our Hotel to the street to catch the trolley bus (really less than renting a veh). Do make sure your trip includes the ride to & from the airport/hotel whereever you stay.

Be WARNED that the area is heavily populated with solicitation for time share and such, promising you a gift if you "just listen to their presentation" DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME, trust me. Keep walking tell them NO!

Enjoy your vacation time, and the best tan of your life! The waters there are amazing, I can't even begin to describe the color! Plan to do a LOT of walking (the beach, the shops, getting around different areas) It is great!

My brother got married just last month in Mexico, and we were at the El Dorado Seaside Resort in Riviera Maya - it was adult-only and all inclusive. The people were really nice, the rooms, beach, food, pools were all great. We were really happy, and my mom (the non-traveler) is already planning our next trip! Something I heard on a tour bus to the Mayan ruins was that some of the resorts down there had more coral than "swimming" beach, so you might want to check with whoever you book with - if you want beach-and-water time, just make sure the whole area isn't coral. Our area was great - the resort provided snorkeling and kayaking equipment, and you could easily swim out to a coral garden and see lots of fish, but also had plenty of area for swimming and such. Have fun! K. :)

It doesn't worry some people, but with all the drug war stuff going on down there right now, I'd be afraid to go to Mexico till they get a handle on it. I'd be afraid of getting caught in the cross fire, but I am not a courageous traveler. Ever think of Disney World, Key West or the Caribbean?

Ditto on the El Dorado Riviera Maya in Playa Del Carmen (you fly into Cancun) The resort was amazing! Lots of high class restaurants at the resort that you make reservations for your stay. Exotic food, beautiful presentation,Plus more than enough walk-in places, clubs, activities, pools, etc. They treat you like royalty. Beautiful rooms, all-inclusive (leave your pocketbook in your room) I highly recommend going to Xel-Ha (shell-ha) for a day of snorkeling, sight-seeing, bike riding, or just gazing at the amazing Caribbean Sea. We did the para-sailing from the resort for an extra fee. We also went to the Mayan Ruins on the same day we went to Xel-Ha. Very interesting and fun. It was very relaxing and fun. We only did one day off the resort and 4 on. We didn't want to leave! There was no worries about any kind of local trouble, etc on the resort. They also have a day spa there. We paid extra for the massage, but everything else is open for you to use all the time. I can't begin to tell you how amazing it was...can't wait to do it again.

Hello,

Congratulations on your anniversary! My husband and I went visited Mexico a few years back for our anniversary. We stayed at Sunscape Puerto Aventuras. It was a wonderful all-inclusive resort. It is in the marina town/village of Puerto Aventuras. There is shopping, swimming with the dolphins and everything you would want within a short distance of the resort, a short 5 minute walk. It was very comfortable and we felt very safe. At the time of our stay the resort was being remodeled and in the process of a take over by Dreams resorts. From what we saw, an already excelent resort was going to be even better.

One thing we did before making our reservations was reading reviews on www.tripadvisor.com. Here is the website for the area as well http://www.puertoaventuras.com.

Hope you have a safe and unforgettable trip!

we like the aventura spa palace, it's an adults only resort, but not really a young people party hard type resort. fairly quiet, fairly isolated, but VERY nice. we went to mexico several times 5-10 years ago, due to the unrest in the country, i personally would not go now. good luck with your trip - we are taking a 2 week cruise for our upcoming anniversary and we can't wait!

We went for our 10th anniversary to the Excellence Puerto Morales. We paid the upgrade for a concierge room and absolutely loved it. We have done a lot of all inclusive resorts and my favorites so far were the Sandals and our Royal Caribbean Cruise.

Google the Iberostar resorts in Playa del Carmen. They have several hotels on their large property and it is all inclusive. It is very safe and affordable.
