Playtex Nipples

I switched when my now 4 month old was about two and a half months. I noticed that she became frustrated when she would eat and she was sucking the nipple too hard. When I switched to faster flow nipples, bottle feeding wasn't so bad. It took her a few tried to get used to the faster flow, but so far so good. Good Luck!

Hi again, we just switched our 7 month old to the fast flow nipples about a month ago and we haven't really noticed a difference. She doesn't fuss if she has the slow flow and we don't get through the bottle any faster with the fast flow. I thought we'd have to phase out all the slow flow nipples, but we still use both.

I never switched! He is 9 months old and does just fine with the slow ones so I decided to just stick with those! I guess I would switch if he gets frustrated with these.

I used these nipple aslo and found the fast flow was just way too much. I stopped the bottle at 13 months but still found that the fast flow just was a waste of liquid. The excess would just come out of her mouth. Not sure if I would have used them later, but my daughter gave up the bottle at 13 months.

I believe switched my son to the faster nipples when he was about 5 1/2 months. He had been eating cereal and it seemed like the right time. Check the package for the recommended age. You will notice how much quicker they drink the bottle with the faster nipple.

I switched to the fast flow nipple when I noticed it was taking him a long time to eat. For us it was around 4 month and it went fine. You can always try it and if you notice that he is gagging or milk is running out of his mouth it is probably to soon, switch back to slow and try again later.

Never switched as my son was primarily breastfed and he was used to a slower flow anyway. I don't know if you really need too unless your child just seems to be frustrated at not getting it out very quickly. It is mostly just for your baby's preference I believe. But I know I have read somewhere that usually they can't handle the faster flow until they are 6 months or so.

I have a 10 mo old, almost 11 mo and I still have not switched to the fast flow nipples. I may be wrong but I think that the fast flow have a larger whole and would be convenient for people who put cereal in their child's milk.

When he comes off of formula at 12 mo old I will likely switch bottle types as well. I found a bottle at a local drug store that is also made by Playtex; it's called Kindergrip, I will likely go with that.

Most breastfed babies NEVER need to switch to the fast flow nipples. After all, do our breasts become fast flow? My 5-month old son is still on the lowest flow (#1) Avent nipples and is perfectly happy that way.

we switched at 3 months. it was taking 30 min to finish a bottle, and she was getting angry. if you have latex nipples, you can enlarge the hole for a middle step. there are instructions in the guide that comes with the starter set. you CANNOT do it with the clear ones.

We switched around 4 months. We had a very difficult time with the whole bottle thing. We tried every nipple/bottle combination possible and the only nipple that wouldn't frustrate her to tears (other than mom) was the latex platex nipple-fast flow. It really has been nice and has given me a lot more freedom to have some time to myself.

I too never switched to fast flow. I think it may have something to do w/breastfeeding. When breastfeeding they have to work at getting the milk so a normal flow bottle is already faster than that. I think any faster might be too quick allowing more air.
