Possibly Pregnant Again

I am a proud first time mother of a nine month baby boy. I am still currently nursing my little one and taking Nor-QD as a means of birth control. I actually started my period last month and it seemed like a normal period which lasted almost a week. Though, the following month I have not yet gone through my menses and no sign of the normal symptoms of my period. My husband and I have been sexually active again. I'm wondering if anyone has gone through this, and if I should be concerned at all..... Could I be possibly pregnant again so soon?

What can I do next?

I unintentionally became pregnant with my second child just 6 months after my first was born. (Considering that I was 41 and all statistics led me to believe that the odds of my carrying a second (healthy) child to term were those of being hit by lightning, I was happily shocked.) Yes, you could be pregnant again, but considering you are taking Nor-QD, it seems unlikely.

Just to let you know, nursing full time does NOT mean you will not get pregnant. I got my period 3 months after giving birth to my daughter last July, I am due with my second daughter in October......5 months after giving birth and still nursing full time but with a regular period....

I got so sick of my period not being normal after 18 months of using norQD and similar bc pills that I finally weaned my daughter from breastfeeding and went on a normal bc pill again. I understand that it's pretty normal to have irregular periods on these "mini pills".

A.,
It is possible to get pregnant while nursing and taking birth control. It wouldn't hurt to take a pregnancy test to just be sure. You wouldn't want to hurt your baby by not knowing.
Just be certain that's all. Then go from there. If you aren't pregnant - then you know that the birth control you are using might be affecting your period. If you are - congrats!! You will truely have a miracle baby.
I am a mom of four boys - four, three, two and one. My middle guys are 3 days shy of a year apart. You can imagine the shock that I got pregnant so fast and the last two I was on a contraceptive. If it's meant to be - it will be.I can't imagine life any other way. I am so thankful for all of my little guys.
Good luck. I hope the info helped.

It's unlikely that you are pregnant. I just read the Nor-QD supplement which says that irregular periods and spotting are normal.

Is it absolutely necessary that you take oral contraception while you are nursing? Are condoms or even withdrawal out of the question? I would be leery about passing progestin on to an infant, since no complex studies have been done. The reports have been visual "reports" such as jaundice. Who knows what this may or may not be doing to your kiddo. In any case, if you are worried about being pregnant, you need to discontinue the drug immediately as adverse affects have been reported in fetal growth & development.

I didn't know you could take birth control while nursing. I thought they were not good for the baby. Nursing if you are doing it full time is usually enough to keep you from having your period, so the birth control must be making you have the period. My one sister nursed her children until about 2 years and would get pregnant with the second after she stopped. There are inexpensive tests you can get in the drug store to check nowadays. You could use condoms as an extra protection if you do not want to get pregnant right away while you nurse. IF you are, stop the birth control immediately or you may abort. Yes, you can have children even 9 months apart:)
Enjoy that beautiful baby boy.

I'm not sure what Nor-Qd is but I'd think it's possible, but it could also be because you're still nursing: your AF could be very irregular. I nursed my DS until he was over 2 1/2 and I'm currently nursing my 15 mo DD, my cycles have run any where from 22 to 28 days. My AF returned when my DS was 7 mo & 5 mos w/ my DD (they were both EBF). And I didn't use oral contraceptives. Both times AF returned it took a few cycles for it to get more normal.
