You most likely had a chemical pregnancy..it happened to me before. You can try again to get pregnant when you ovulate again in about a week and a half. Good luck!

You need a blood test to check the level of hcg, the docors I have experience with always order this right away if there is question of pregnancy because urine tests aren't always accurate.

As some of the responses mentioned, bleeding doesn't always mean miscarriage.

Call your healthcare provider for peace of mind.

Hi L.,
I have just finished my whole "baby-making" career with the birth of my fourth child, Isabelle, in April. She is my fourth baby but my eighth preganancy. SO many things can happen when you concieve - not all work out and sometimes nature and your own body know when something is wrong in the very beginning. If it does'nt work out, at least feel secure in the fact that you CAN get pregnant and move on boldly, like a soilder - I often say that to be a mother you have to be a warrior - dash bravely forward and God willing you will have your sweet miracle, to hold in your arms. For any Mom that would think I am harsh, I have said Goodbye to a daughter in the NICU after she suffered a episode of suffication during her birth - she was 17 and 1/2 days old and my heart breaks over her, even as I hold my newborn today. I have BEEN THERE. You are strong, we should all be for our children here with us, for our partners and for ourselves. Definitely go back to the doctor and be checked out, the longer the pregnancy progresses the eaiser it will be detected. See if you can have an ultrasound for more of an idea of what's going on. Good Luck to you. E. P.S.- Jes S knows what she's talking about with the hcg levels, they can tell you if the pregnancy looks to be viable or not over a period of a few days to weeks.

What type of doc did you see? You should have seen an OB/Gyn. Usually, they test your blood which gives them more info than urine test. Also, some docs would have done an ultrasound. They also check for heartbeat, do a pap smear and some physical checkup. You said you bled for a whole day after seeing the doc? Only one day? Take the pregnancy test again. If it's positive, go to an OB/Gyn doc.

With my first pregnancy the home test came back positive (three), then the doctors urine test came back negative. They did an internal ultrasound and couln't find anything. Based on their calculation (my last period date), they said I should be 7 weeks along and they would be able to see something. They said I should expect to miscarry over the weekend. When Monday came with no bleeding, they sent me for bloodwork and did another internal. Turns out I double ovulated and was not as far along as their original calculations AND their urine test was not as accurate as Rite-Aid's. How much did you bleed? That doesn't always mean anything. I had implantation bleeding with both preganancies and with my second I had quite a bit of bleeding for abot 12 hours after some physical activity at a birthday party for my other son. I would take another home pregnancy test and if it comes back positive, request a blood test.

L.,
Have your doctor do a blood serum test to see what your levels are which will also tell them whether you are pregnant or not and if so it the levels are going up or not. Sometimes the urine test is inaccurate due to the test being old or whoever did it did not know what he/she was doing. I will tell you I bleed every month as if I was having a normal menstrual cycle for the whole 9 months and my son was just under 8 lbs.

Hi L.,

I would ask your doctor for a test from blood work. Because I bleed the first 6 months off and on like I has my period. Everyweek I tought I was having a miscarrage. Thankfully I did not and have a wonderful beautiful boy who is turning 2 years old tomorrow. God Willing :) So I would get the blood work done. :)

I am not a doctor...I think you need to call your doctor and tell them what happened. They can probably give you a real answer. But it sounds like to me that you may have been pregnant then miscarried. I think you need to call your doctor and they will tell you where to go from here. Good luck!

L., you may have been pregnant and it did not make it...please don't be too upset. I mean, I believe (now that I am educated about this whole miscarriage) I believe I was pregnant the month before I conceived my oldest and I lost the baby and I didn't know and when I look by, it explains everything why I missed my period and didn't have my period for two weeks and right after I took the take home pregnancy test which turned out negative, I bled alot, I mean ALOT. I didn't know why and then, I conceived my oldest the next month and I almost lost him at 6 weeks and then had two more boys after him and then just recently miscarried and I was at 9 weeks and the baby died at 7 weeks. I was soooo upset because we planned this ababy and I knew I was pregnant and all of a suddent the baby died and then knowing that it was dead for two weeks. I was upset and hurt, but Jesus Christ got me through it and I cried occasionally but I am much better now. Just to let you know that it's okay to cry and grieve but you know what that baby is in Heaven...no doubt about it and I will see two of my babies in Heaven in the future and that is the HOPE I have in Christ Jesus. so, it's a possibility that you were pregnant but didn't make it and you may want to talk to your OB but if they deny and don't blieve so, ignore them because you know your body and go with the gut feeling. Let us know and if I can help you by talking with you, feel free to do so.

Dear MOM,

After you get your period you need to wait a certain amount of days before you can get pregnant, here is a link you can use to predict your ovulation dates.

http://www.ovulation-calculator.org/

As for taking another test, I suggest waiting until next month, don't take the test until you are atleast 10 days LATE for your monthly period.

Best Wishes!

Hi L.,

It is probably cheaper for you to take another home test and/or wait a bit. A friend of mine had a negative home test when she had obvious pregnancy signs, a week or so later a positive home test, a positive blood test, then nothing on her ultrasound. She bled for a while after going to the doctor's for the internal ultrasound and a week or two later went back and the baby was there for all to see. If you are testing this early, hormone levels can vary greatly and that is what you are checking for. If you have another positive home test, definitely go back to the doctor. Good luck! :)

Sounds like you got a false positive from the store bought pregnancy test, and then got your period. Call the doctor, and let him know about your bleeding. You didn't mention how late you were when you took the pregnancy test. In any event, I think you should check with your doctor (gyn). I hope you get the results you want. Good luck! If you are not pregnant and do not want to be, make sure you get protection, okay.

Hi L.,
Sorry to hear about your predicament.
Didn't they do an ultrasound/sonogram when you were at the Dr's? I know they normally take urine sample and run a vaginal utlrasound to make sure you are or are not pregnant.
Bleeding for the whole day doesn't necessarily mean you are not pregnant. I had similar episodes (bleeding) while preg with both my sons.
If I were you, I would go ahead and take a home test and if it comes +ve again, I'd go back to see an OBGyn.
Good luck. I'll send you a prayer.
L..
