Hi Ladies! I have a beautiful little red haired girl with blue eyes and the fairest of fair skin. She LOVES to swim and I would like to take her out to the pool this summer when the weather gets hot. Any suggestions on shaded pools or even covered ones? We live in inner southeast - but do have a car. Thanks for your time. Enjoy the sunshine!!!!

NCAP - North Clackamas Aquatic Park is a great indoor pool.
My daughter and I go there for the preschool swims on Fridays.

Hello ~

There are lots of nice indoor pools, some with slides and current channels and other fun things. Check out Mt. Scott Pool and SW Community Center.

Both the North Clackamas Aquatic park and the Mt Scott one are indoor with giant windows.

Another fun option is the park on HWY 43 in West Linn. They have an outdoor wading pool and the entire playground and most of the pool is shaded by the giant trees.

S.-
I have the same problem! My little red head is almost 2 and I can't keep her out of the pool in the backyard. We bought her just a small frog pool from Walgreens that offers some shade. Our solution was to buy a pop up canopy for the yard so she has a big shaded area to play in. With Memorial weekend I'm sure they will be going on sale somewhere. Hope this helps! Oh also we bought hats from flaphappy.com. They are the only ones that I can get her to keep on her head, amazing hats! Good Luck!

The Tualatin Hills Parks and Recreation Department I believe has several covered pools in thier network. The first one I can think of is on the corner of Walker Road and 158th in Beaverton. If you visit the website you can find out more.

Good luck!

there are a few community centers around the vancouver / clark county .... one that comes to my mind is Firstenburg and they have specific times for toddlers to swim so "big" kids wont interfere

Hi, S.--

This may be out of your way, but there is a great indoor pool over at the Southwest Community Center in the Vermont Hills area (right on the corner of Gabriel Park). My daughter also is fair-haired and fair-skinned so I know what you mean about wanting to keep her out of the bright sun. If you want to check out the SWCC, I know that they are online and have a swim schedule listed. Good luck!

Mt. Scott pool and rec center is great for kids of all ages. It's also adjacent to a great big park and playground. There is also a nice outdoor pool at 42nd & Powell (don't remember the name)--I know the surround is shaded, but I don't know that the pool itself is.

I also have a red-haired princess. Last summer we went to Mt. Scott community center. Parking was a bear but I lucked out after traveling around the block 3 times. The facility is beautiful. There was something for my older kids, 13 and 9, as well. Good luck!
