What is a soft, small meal that I can feed my picky eating 8 yr old after the removal of his tonsils and adenoids?

What can I do next?

There are all sorts of things that you can feed him.....the only thing that you really want to stay away from is the things that have red dye in them. If he starts bleeding you want to be able to tell if it is blood and not wonder if it is the dye in the food. My 15 yr old had hers out last Oct and we fed her mashed potatoes, ramen noodle soup, chicken noodle soup, pudding....basically we fed her anything that she thought that she could (and wanted) to eat. Jello and applesauce are options too. He may not want to eat a full course meal anyway....he may just want to snack. Just have the stuff on hand that you can make him and go from there.

we ate lots of applesauce, mac and cheese, mashed potatoes and such for several days after my son had his removed. But probably ate more ice cream than anything else. Healthy I know, but ice cream can make anyone feel better right??
Good luck

When I had mine out at aged 12, all I ate for ½ a week was baked/mashed potatoes with sour cream, jell-o or pudding, and popsicles when my throat was sore. I finally was able to start eating spaghetti and lasagna a week after. Shouldn’t take more than a week to heal. GOOD LUCK!

You should try and avoid foods which are too soft. Following the removal of both my children's tonsils, the doctors and nurses both advised eating cereal's such as corn flakes or rice krispies to encourage the throat muscles to heal more quickly. Once they ate that, I found that a little ice cream treat stopped too much groaning about it!
