Seeking Counselor ASAP

I am looking for a couples counselor. My husband and I have decided that we need some help dealing with our problems and I'm afraid if we don't do something soon we won't stay together too much longer. I personally would like a counselor who doesn't just sit back and listen. If I am doing something wrong I want to know. If he is I want him to know. I don't want someone to sit back and say, "Well how does that make you feel?" Also, one of our big problems is money so of course we'd like someone who doesn't cost a fortune. Another problem is religion so we don't want to go to a church. (My husband thinks he wants to be a Jehovah's Witness)

I would highly recommend Cheryl Soignier at ###-###-####. She was absolutely wonderful and a life saver when we went to her for quite a while. I believe she just might be what you are looking for in a counselor. I also know several people who have gone to her and were very pleased. She's very honest, but very fair and knowledgeable. T. My husband and I have gone to her for almost a year now and she is great. She takes our insurance and it costs $35 a visit. We've made a lot of progress with her. We tried another counselor and that wasn't a fit so we have been pleased with the success with her.

Hang in there...you both can make this work and the good times will come back again.

Dr. Paul Bowles near 635 & Hillcrest has been a great help to me and a number of couple-friends. I don't think you will find many counselors that will tell you "the answer." But Dr. Bowles is very helpful in helping the two of you to communicate more effectively and that could help you to sort out your problems. It helped us a lot many years ago. He is also good with men; helps them to feel that counseling is worthwhile by relating it to their careers. He was average in pricing, but was on our insurance plan. Hope that helps. Good luck.

CS, my husband and I have recently attended the most incredible "training" seminars to be created! It is called Discovery and will no doubt help/save your marriage and improve your quality of life. The first session is Discovery 1, this is when you work on yoruself and disposing of all your past and present baggage. The next month is Discovery 2, this helps you with tools to keep living free of hang ups. Discovery 3 is to help you establish a purpose. Through this training, it is guaranteed you and your husband will change for the better but Discovery also has a Relationship Training in April that is amazing! And only one of you has to have been to Discovery 1 for both of you to attend. My husband and I were not in marital trouble and it has still made things 100% better. My friends that were near divorce say they can't believe the difference it has made.

Now, about the money, the trainings do have costs and fees (not much though) but there are scholarships available. So it may be possible for you and your husband to attend all of the trainings for little or no costs. Please see their website and at least call them with questions: http://discovery-training.com/

Good luck and I hope to see in the future a posts about healing!

CS,

My husband and I were on the verge of divorce just 6 months ago and now we are happier than we were our first year of marriage. I did go to a counselor for 4 months and the last month he went with me and we did get some closure but let me tell you about a program called "The Road Adventure" We got more healing in 3 weekends than we did in those 4 months. It is in Richardson and it is the best program I've ever seen. There are 3 phases. PLEASE PLEASE TRUST THIS PROGRAM. I DON'T KNOW YOUR PROBLEMS BUT I CAN TELL YOU WITH 90% CERTAINTY THAT IF YOU BOTH GO THIS WILL SAVE YOUR MARRIAGE. Go to www.theroadadventure.org There is not a lot of information on there because they don't want you to have any preconceived ideas so that you can feel it for real. I wasn't ready to go so my husband went without me and I saw an immediate change in him so I went two weeks later to the next Part 1. Then he left his class to go through Part 2 with me. Then we also did Part 3 together. Even if he doesn't want to go, you need to go for you. You will be a better woman and mother because of it. The next Part 1 is not until January 4th so I know that is a long ways away. I would suggest calling 972-690--5128 and telling them that you really need to talk to someone before January.

Dear CS,

I can't recommend Mark Felber highly enough!! He helped me when I didn't even believe I could be helped. Mark is incredibly successful working with couples and individuals; highly trained and also one of the most caring, empathetic human beings you will ever meet. It's just a thought but your husband also might feel more comfortable with a male counselor.

You can find out more about Mark and contact him online at www.marriagecpr.com or give him a call at ###-###-####. I have every confidence he can help you. I wish you the best!

Check out this counselor: http://www.katrenahart.com/

My husband and I went to her, and I couldn't recommend anyone more highly.

Plus, payment is done on a sliding scale so she's truly affordable.

It's been said that if anyone can save a marriage in Dallas, it's Ellaine Sullivan.

She has a home office in Farmers Branch as well as an office off of Hillcrest and 635.

She has helped my husband and I save our marriage. I can't even tell you how much. We're actually a couple again.

Good luck. Tell her that A. and Grant N. referred you.

My husband and I attended a Retrouvaille weekend a few weeks ago. There is a $75 registration fee and they only ask for donations after the program is offered. The next weekend is in January. A great way to learn to communicate.

My husband and I saw Monique Thompson. We had a tough time moving from CA to TX with 3 kids and money issues. She has 2 or 3 locations she can meet at which helps. We saw her both at her Farmer's Branch location and Lewisville. She was excellent, warm, caring and non-judmental.

I just wanted to say I hope you both stay stong. A marrage that is salvagable is really worth the work. Financial stress can put a huge strain on even the best couples. Also the religion problem is big. I am not sure when anyone can do to help you though that one but you have to pray a lot and beleive God to show you the way. At the very least you have to respect that your husband is willing to serve in some way even if it not our way. I know that is really hard. Stay strong girl.
