Seeking Good Birthing Classes in SA (Even Better If They're in the NE, 78261)

Hi Moms,

I'm 22 weeks into my pregnancy for our #2 babe. I was in Japan with #1, so I didn't have a lot of options for birthing classes. For medical reasons I have to be induced at week 39, but I am determined to not let them push tons of pitocin down me in the first few hours of the process. I'd like to avoid an epidural if I can. . . so looking for any advice on birthing classes that could help with my goal. Also wondering if anyone has experience with getting a doula for birth at Wilford Hall MC. Thanks!

What can I do next?

I took a Hypnobirthing class in San Antonio. I gave birth without an epi....18 hours of labor and 2 1/2 hours of pushing. So it worked! :)

I just finished a hypnobirthing class taught by Allison Staley. My husband and I both liked it. I haven't given birth yet, so I can't report on the end result, but it has made me excited instead of nervous about giving birth. Allison teaches the classes in your own home, so that makes it easier. If you are interested, her email address is: ____@____.com

You can google hypnobirthing for more information.

I took the "birthing" class that Wilford Hall recommended and it was on Fort Sam. A midwife and doula came to talk to us about natural childbirth and her services with the military. I am sure if you call them they can give you her name. I think I threw out her card after the baby was born. That would probably be the best route since they work with military hospitals already. If I find anymore info I will email you ;)

I am a midwife in San Antonio and have begun taking on a few doula clients of late. I would be happy to take to you about your birth. Also, Alisa Voss, a fellow midwife, teaches awesome childbirth classes and has a cool classroom set up in her home. Her phone # is ###-###-####. If you would like to contact me my number is ###-###-####.
