My 10 month old is allergic to milk. I stopped nursing her at 8 1/2 months and she has thrown up every kind of formula I have given her. I have tried Lactose Free Milk based, Gentle ease milk based, soy formula and nomatter what about 85% of the time she will be throwing up all of the formula before it even seems to be digested. It has been so sad. She at the same time has been very somewhat constipated. I thought it might be from the formula but my doctor said that the amount of iron in the formulas is so small that it could not be causing the constipation. I gave her a little tsp of flax meal in her applesauce and that took care of the problem. I called an herbalist and she suggested she needs to be on goats milk. Has anyone ever heard of this or tried it before. Or better yet knows where to get some? I am going to call the health food store to check. My friend is a nurse and has worked in the ER for alot of years and she said that my daughter might have a hurniea (sp?) in her diaphram because of the symptoms that she has. She said it could be serious. Along with the milk allergy possibility she has had double ear infections for about 3 months now. :( I have tried everything. I have given her garlic lobelia and mullien oil in her ear ( I have actually tried 3 different kinds of ear oil) I have tried amoxacilin, omnicef, rocef shots (2) and now she is on her 3rd day of augmentin. I really dont want to have to put tubes in her ears but I am willing to because I dont want her to have hearing loss. Does anyone know of a good ear nose and throat specialist? I am going to take her to a chiropracter and hopefully that will help, if anyone has a good chiropracter with babies and children in the lehi, draper, am fork area please let me know. Sorry to unload I just feel so bad for her and sometimes the guessing can be so hard especially when the doctors dont seem to be very helpful or informative. Please let me know if any of you have any ideas, suggestions or experience on any of these. Thank you so much!

What can I do next?

You can buy goats milk and even rice milk at whole foods. They even have goats milk yoghurts. For when she is older they have a great variety of non dairy foods and snacks. My son has a Lactose Intolerance and still spat up after each feed we added rice cereal to his milk and it wasn't as bad. Because he did bring back all the time the doctor felt that he had reflux disease so took Zantac, this protects the lining of the oesophagus. The ear infections could be a result of her allergies/sensitivities. I wouldn't go down the tubes route yet, some babies are more prone to infections because there tubes are smaller and will improve as they grow. If she has a tendency to be congested, that can be another sign of allergies and even reflux, if you are not doing it already run a humidifier in her room all the time and even put saline drops in her nose. I run one in my sons room and find this really works. I hope some of this helps.

Goats milk for sure. You can buy it at farmers markets and also winder dairy. You could give her protein shakes my cousin did that cuz her baby wouldn't drink milk. Also, don't fret i have a lady in my ward that they don;t beleive in milk except breastmilk so their kids just frink water no juices... Nothing. I know the doctors would disaggree but she is really a health nut and her kids are never sick and don't gettheir immunizations> good luck i would be worried too!!!

I would go for the goats milk. I actually drank it growing up and if it is taken care of right, it doesn't taste any different. Anyway, right now I don't know anyone who has goats etc personally, but I know they are out there. I would just google goats milk in utah and see what comes up. I know when my family was doing the goats milk, we had quite a few moms come to buy milk because their babies couldn't keep anything else down. Good luck, feel free to contact me if you have anymore questions or if you aren't having any luck with finding anything.

How do you feel about re-lactation? You could probably do it and then she could just have your milk which doesn't seem to bother her.. I would contact La Leche League or a Lactation specialist.
