I am looking to volunteer my time somewhere that I could bring my one year old with me. I realize that having to bring her limits my options but I was hoping some moms out there would have some ideas for us. Thanks so much.
I volunteer at a local Crisis Pregnancy Center on their cleaning team, and have done so ever since my baby turned one (he's now two). I just feed him breakfast in his stroller while I clean, and I'm done by the time he's impatient to get down. It works beautifully!
I work for a theater company that is ALWAYS looking for volunteers to help with events, marketing, publicity, web-design, photography, costume design, stage management, office work, etc. I often bring my one-year old to work with me and it is completely acceptable--very laid back with child freindly people! there is a great website for volunteer work called dosomething.org - you can search volunteer work needed in your area and I'm sure you can contact the organization your are interested in helping to ask about bringing your child. It's wonderful that you want to do something to help others with your child! What a great thing to learn about at an early age.
There is always Maggies Place. I have volunteered there, and have made frequent donations. ps. They love kids, too...
