Hi Moms,
Does anyone have experience removing silly putty that has been squashed into the carpet? I would appreciate some great tips for this!
Thanks!
A.

Lay a bag of ice over it to freeze it, and chip out as much as you can. A non-toxic solvent like Citra-Solve may take out the remainder. If it doesn't, you might want to carefully snip out some fibers, and glue in others removed from under the couch or inside a closet. It may always feel a little funny underfoot, but should be pretty-near invisible to the eye.

I had this happen and researched it and the best thing I found was hand sanitizer. I would test a bit first to make sure it doesn't stain your carpet. But the sanitizer actually dissolves it. Good luck!

I just got a wad of dried bubble gum out of my carpet with a product called PreSpot. I cut as much out as I could without harming any fibers, let it sit for 10 minutes and it rubbed right out. I know the putty is greasy so it might take a degreaser on it as well. I use Melamagic because it is natural degreaser but I'm sure something like Dawn would degrease it. If you use dawn make sure you test it in the closet to make sure it won't discolor that area of the carpet.

Dear A., not sure if this will work with silly putty but it should. I had blue tack in my carpet and found that warm soapy in the carpet washer got rid of it suprisingly well. good luck, Lydia

Cigarette lighter fluid works great. Also on gum as well as black marks on carpet & tile.
