I have a 10 year-old girl that takes voice lessons at the Music Conservatory of Texas in Frisco. They are really good, but not cheap. A 30-minute private lesson will cost about $35. All of their staff are great and really good with children. They have several books of Hannah Montana, Camp Rock, High School Musical, etc. songs that the kids can choose to sing from. They are great at letting the kids sing songs they are familiar with and want to sing.

We have been going there for a little over a year and have been happy.

My youngest is a vocalist and has been singing since she was 2 (9 now). We had a really hard time finding anyone to take her when she was younger but there are a few options for you now.

If you want SERIOUS singing lesson-go to Septien in Addison. Professional, proven track record-Demi Lavato and I believe Jessica Simpson were students there. But expensive.

If you don't mind a DRIVE, Everybody Fits in Carrollton has a new vocal team. He just called to let us know yesterday. Reasonable prices and it's an AWESOME facility! They have everything at the same place (gymnastics, cheerleading, dance, acting, karate, theater, ect.) The quality of instruction is amazing! We just went to an open house two weeks ago. Olympic gymnast runs-Kim Zameskal(?) runs the gym program, and Cathrine Sullivan runs the acting program-also students of her Demi Lavato, Madison Pettis, Cody Linley-Dinsey Channel stars. She is Cody's mom. So if you wanted to go for vocals you could also pick another activity and do it the same day so that it would be worth the drive.

My daughter has been with Stefani Little since she was 6yrs. old. She has had lots of performance opportunities around DFW- SixFlags, Grapefest, Ft. Worth Holiday Parade, Dallas Arboretum, and many others. She has a fabulous program also. But is located in Southlake and with gas prices and the fact that we went several times a week I just couldn't do it anymore. We will still see her occassionally. Her website is http://www.vocal-secrets.com/Welcome.html

Now if that is too much for you to start with there is a small studio in downtown McKinney, on the square, that teaches piano and voice, I believe. I'm not sure of the name or pricing.

There is also a performing Arts center/studio in downtown Wylie. Drove by it a few times but don't know anything about it.

And ALLEN is opening a performing arts center soon. That is where my daughter will be hopefully. It is not up and running just yet but they do have a website. The group vocal class is called POP STAR. It is an auditon/application entry but sounds like a good program for this area. Here is the website. http://www.tapaallen.com/courses.html

Hope this helps. Good Luck in your music quest! Please feel free to email me if you have any questions. I am also the Collin County Cinderella Scholarship Program Preliminary Director (www.texascinderellapageant.com) and we have an awesome program for girls. IF your daughter has the energy and stage presence that mine does she will really enjoy it. Here is my email: ____@____.com

I have a friend who teaches piano and voice lessons. Her students really enjoy her (my son took piano from her for years). Her name is Tish Rogers and you can reach her at ###-###-####. Since she teaches lessons, you will probably have to leave a message, but she will call you back. Tell her that L. referred you to her. She teaches in her home, which is in Carrollton, but it is near Plano (off Hebron Parkway and Josey Lane).

Check with your larger local church. Someone in the choir or music director could assist you.
