HI G., My kids and I just moved to the TC area and we are members at the YMCA. I have enjoyed working out regularly for the past 10 years but am having a very hard time making myself go now. The first thing that got me into going was a partner-I hated working out until I saw that it was the only thing that really worked. If you'tr in this area and would like to give it a try I would love to have a partner. Having to meet someone at the gym makes you more likely to go.

I JUST TRY TO DRINK A LOT OF WATER AND NOT SNACK ALOT. BEING AT HOME ALL DAY MAKES IT EASY TO GRAZE ALL DAY! I KNOW! I STARTED BRINGING MY SON TO EASTLAND MALL TO PLAY INSIDE ON THE PLAY AREA. IT GETS US ALL OUT OF THE HOUSE FOR A LITTLE BIT, AND YOU CAN ALSO WALK AROUND THE MALL FOR SOME EXERCISE. GOOD LUCK!!

no the feeling!! I have 3 kids and gained weight after each of them, I am heavier now then I was when I was 9 months preg. I have made a little head way (5 pounds) in the last month-I've cut out soda (which I love) and have tried eating better-more fruit, water etc. but anyway, what area are you in-maybe we could do a walking or excercise thing together-I don't currently do either one, but would be interested in starting. I live in New Haven-contact me at ____@____.com if your interested

well G., I can relate to your situation. I have no motivation for exercising either. I really am trying to focus on that. My son is 6 and after school I take him to the Salvation Army after school program. Hey G., let's help motivate each other for exercise or walking and helping each other out. I live in the Traverse City area anyone interested in walking or exercising together.

I am going thru the same thing. I have also gained about 40 lbs since my son. He is 14 months now. I am also a stay at home mom and its hard to find things to do this time of year. I cant wait for summer when I can go out with my son more. I have decided to not stress about diets and such until the new year, who need the torture?

Have you tried WW? I did the CORE program where you don't have to count points and lost 20 pounds fairly easily.

Hi G.! I feel your pain! I have a 20 month old, and 3 months ago I was bigger than I was when I was pregnant with him. I joined Weight Watchers online around Thanksgiving and have already lost 34 pounds. It's great, there's no embarrasing weigh ins that you would have at the meetings, the website calculates your points for you and there are tons of yummy recipes and exercise tips (which I hate). Since I've lost the weight though, I'm flabby, so I recently started Tae-Bo three times a week three weeks ago and I can already see a difference, starting to firm up already! Hope things go well for you, confidence in yourself is so important. Good luck!

The only thing that worked for me is exercise. I joined Lifetime Fitness (they don't make you sign a contract - pay month to month). I hate working out, but this place is so nice it's not so bad. It's like going to a resort. They have a daycare there that's AMAZING - kids love it.

I lost 30 lbs. in about 5 or 6 months.

Hi,
I gained over 50 lbs due to depression and have lost all but 12 from various things. I eat a ton of salads and veges, I love crunchy foods and chips are bad LOL If I must eat the crunchy, salty stuff - I put some into a small bowl and consciously eat them, one by one. I call it food awareness and use the same idea when I must have chocolate. Sweets have to melt in my mouth - its amazing how different sweets taste when you stop to really taste them.
I also walk alot, the best thing for me is to just strap my shoes on and head out the door -- if I had to plan to go to the gym I'd make up too many excuses.
I just fit into my barometer jeans now and look forward to them fitting better.

Good luck.

L.

I lost 40 lbs last year on weight watchers, but it's too expensive since I lost my job.

I'm in Portage if you want to hang out. We can go walking!

Hi G. C,

I have been there and done that! I have watched my weight all of my life and from my mid 30's to now my early 40's I have tried just about everything from Weight Watchers, LA Weight Loss, my physician plan and weight loss medication. Now, I have lost nearly 40 lbs on Shaklees' Cinch Plan. I trusted a company that has been in the health and wellness business for 50 years and that is more experience than Weight Watchers, Mellaluca and others combined. Everything is all natural and low glycemic. You lose inches and fat but maintain muscle. There soy protein is awesome and they have a variety of protein bars too. The Cinch Plan is cheaper than Weight Watchers and other plans and the good news is that it works. I lost weight with little or no exercise...:)and gained a lot of energy!

If you would like to know more information about the Cinch Weight Loss Plan please send me an email.

Maybe you should see a nutricianist (sorry I can't spell) and see what diet is right for you. You should also start some sort of daily workout plan. The pounds aren't going to drop off right away, but within a few weeks you should notice. I gained almost 60 pounds when I was pregnant with my son. I have worked hard, very hard, at getting it off for the past year. I still have 12 pounds to go. These last 12 pounds will not go away. Weightloss takes a lot of patience. You can't give up because the first week you do something nothing comes off. If you ever want a walking buddy, I would be more than welcome to walk with you. I need to find some mommy friends that live around here. I only have one and shes so busy we never get to see eachother! Btw, I am 24 and live in Clinton Twp. :)

Hello Geneie!

I know of a way you can lose weight and keep it off. The program is called VFL which stands for Vitality For Life. It is offered through a company called Melaleuca The Wellness Company. If you are interested let me know I would love to discuss it with you. Have a great day!

Hi G., My name is J., I have had the same problem as you do and I found that if you have a stroller you can take the kids the the mall and stuff like that and walk until you get bored and look at stuff too, it works really good when it's cold outside or you don't have money for a gym membership like me. Good luck, J.

Hi G.,
My friend and I started a weight loss group. We have about 8 ladies in our group that all want to lose weight. We also have a weight loss challenge. Whoever loses the most % of weight loss wins the $25/person it costs to join. Good motivation, huh?
I have lost 20lbs over the last 6-9 months. The way I did it is I wrote everything that I ate down in a journal. I kept track of my calories this way. I had between 1300-1400 calories everyday. I also kept track of my protien. (eggs, string cheese, yogurt, fish, chicken, stuff like that) You want to get around 100 grams of protein everyday. And don't forget your 8 glasses of water. I also did 20 min of walking (and then running when I got better at it)every other day. On my off days I'd do push-ups, situps, and some kicks I learned on tie-bo. If you stick to something like this you will lose the weight, gain muscle (with the push-ups, situps, etc), and keep it off. You have to remember that the more muscle mass you have the more calories you can eat and keep the weight off. That is my favorite part!! lol Also at about.com they have a great site about nutrition and weight loss there. Anyway, hope this helps. Let me know how it goes.
-Sandie

Hey G. I can relate I am in the same boat and my kids are 5 & 31/2 and I still have yet to lose weight and I think I have actually gained some since having them. I have tried Weight Watchers in the past and that really works. What area do you live in? Best of luck. Take care.
