So What Happened?

Thank you for the replies! I actually purchased the system for our son. Now I just need to buy some games! I am excited to give it to him and see how he does!
I bought some games and it is a success! He loves it! I don't know who gets more excited him or me to play!

My 5 year has had this system for 2 years and had gotten a lot of great use out of it. He especially loves the "Thomas" and "Nemo" games. It is great for learning shapes, colors, numbers and the alphabet. He also has the portable V-smile which is great for long car rides.

I bought a v-tech v-smile for my son when he was three and he loved it. He is now 4.5 and barely uses it. I think it was good investment, but I wish he had not grown out of it so soon. I am going to sell it and buy him a Wii for his 5th birthday.

Hi A.,

My girlfriend bought the v tech v smile for her son, who is autistic. She seems to be very pleased with it. I'm sure she would recommend it to you.

oh very much so. my son's grandparents got it for im when he was around 2 (tho he didnt get the concept of the games for a few more months) i think it majorly helped his hand/eye coordination, plus he just loves playing the games. we bought him for a trip to florida the hand held version and he would play, then we would take it away for a little while to give him a break.

We received the V Smile and the Click Start computer from Leap Frog for Christmas. My almost 3-year-old likes playing with the Click Start more than the V Smile. Also, V Smiles have tons of mechanical problems. Mine would not turn on the second time we tried to play it. If you read the reviews on Amazon.com you will see this as well. It turns out they are touchy, sometimes they work and sometimes they don't. I believe the older model of the V Smile was better, my nieces used that all the way up to 8-9 years old. Anyway, I would recommend checking out a Click Start or one of the hand held games too.

Eh, its not bad. We got one for my dd when she turned 4. She played it for a couple of months, then lost interest. She had lots of games, but she watched her sister playing Nintendo DS, so hers wasn't as cool as big sisters.

YES!

My son is 2 (28 months) and we got it for him for Christmas. He LOVES it. There are different games for different ages (my 6 year old loves it too!) and although most games are pretty hard for him he is mastering them slowly and has a lot of fun doing it.

We got ours on ebay without an adapter and it did eat batteries so I would highly recommend an adapter.

My son got his when he turned 4. He loves it, and plays it when he can. He stopped playing it as much when he discovered games on the internet. Anyway, we got the one that you can plug into the TV or use as a handheld. It is awesome for long car trips, waits in the doctor's offices, and also as a fun game on the TV. He has all his favorites...Cars, Spongebob, and the Toy Story one is fun...even for me.

We don't have any other video game system, so it was just fine for him.

I got one for my son and he doesn't play with it so much BUT everyone I have talked to said their kids/grandkids LOVE it and play with it often. My son has some fine motor skill deficits making it very hard for him to play.

My 3-year old girl loves her v-smile. We got it for her when she was 2 1/2. The games have age groups on them and you will have to show him how to use it at first. Once in awhile, my daughter will ask me to get her through a hard part. She loves playing it though. And it does teach her problem solving skills, letters, numbers and shapes. :-) Plus it's fun!

My 3 year old son got the V-Tech PC Pal TV Learning System for Christmas. He loves it and in the past month has learned recoginiton of a lot of his letters. I would highly recommend buying it for your son. The games are called smartridges. Most places are 19.95 or 24.95 per game but I have found some of them cheaper at Best Buy.

I highly recommend getting one. My boys, 3 & 6, are playing one right now. We bought it for the oldest one when he was three and he loves it. His brother started joining in the fun a few months ago. For Christmas this year we purchased the hand held version which has also been a big hit. The games available are all educational and make them think while having fun.

We love ours. My daughter got hers when she was 3. She loves it more now, she's 6. This year for Christmas, she & her 2yo brother got a v-motion. The games are interchangeable which is one of the things I love about it.

Buy a cute set of headphones and it will be your best friend when you have long trips in the car.
