Weird Things Happening

I woke up yesterday morning with an intense need to pee but only a small amount trickled out and it didn't diminish my need to go; this happened all day yesterday; when I would wipe, there would be a small amount of pink on the toilet paper, and when I used the bathroom at the grocery store last night, this mucus/clot came out and was flesh colored tinged with red. The last time that I had problems peeing was right after I had my daughter (the epidural did something to my bladder) and had to be cathed for 48 hours after and then for another 48 hours after I was home. I'm on Mirena and I take pregnancy tests every few months because I haven't had a period since right after my daughter was born. Should I call my doctor?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

The nurse said it doesn't sound exactly like a UTI or Bladder infection and asked about possible pregnancies ... I have an appointment at 3:30. Well, I'm not pregnant (yay! Thank G-d!) and they said the only sign of infection is my white cell count is a little high and I had some miniscule amounts of blood in my urine, but no other signs of an UTI or Bladder infection and put me on a short course of Bactrim. Thanks for the suggestions!

Sounds like a bladder or UT infection to me. I'd call before it moves north and becomes a kidney infection.

Sounds like either a bladder or urinary tract infection. Call your doc and get a same-day appointment if you can.

Call your doctor: UTI's go away with antibiotics, and you can also find some relief from the over-the-counter UTI pills (they turn your urine BRIGHT orange though, so be prepared for an orange ring around the toilet haha)

This sounds like a UTI. Needing to pee and not being able to is one of the symptoms. The first one I ever got, I was 15 and I simply couldn't go. Then the pink blood, then the bloody blood. It had gone to my kidneys. It's not something to mess around about.
Go to the doctor. They should be able to tell by a pee test what's going on and getting you some antibiotics might be the answer. Seriously, you don't want to risk it getting into your kidneys. It's excruciatingly painful at that point. And, you might need help from a catheter to empty you out. I was in so much pain from not being able to go and filled up 3 catheter bags of urine. It was such a huge relief!
I would certainly contact your doctor. Urine is toxins being taken out of our systems and if it can't get out on it's own, sometimes we need a little help.

I wish you the best!

I would contact your doctor but because it's the weekend you may want to even call your pharmacist. They may be able to tell you if this is one of the listed side effects, but w/all of the legalities these days you may even just want to check the mirena website. Good luck!

I get EXACTLY those symptoms with a bladder infection, including passing small clots. Try to get an appointment with your doctor soon and DON'T take Uristat (the pills that turn your pee orange) until you've at least asked the doctor about it, it can make it difficult for them to properly diagnose an infection because it turns EVERYTHING (bacteria, red blood cells, white blood cells) bright orange. They may have a way around it though. Drink LOTS of water and cranberry juice, if you can stand it (I hate it).

if it weren't for the that clot you're talking about i would be sure it is urinary trac infection (so, yes, call the doc)...mmm, not sure about the mucus there, maybe candida (yeast) in your vagina? in either case you need antibiotic, so call the doc and good luck for a fast recover!

Yes, if you have a urinary tract infection, you need medicine NOW! Meantime, drink tons of water and cranberry juice or tea to flush out your bladder. It may be something hormonal with the mucous but the rest sounds like a UTI which requires antibiotics. Don't mess around. Get medical attention.

It sounds like a bladder infection to me. Go to the doctor ASAP and until then you gan get some AZO (over the counter ) to help with discomfort. It makes your pee a weird yellow, but the symptoms are much better.

Call your doctor, you may have a urinary tract infection. If you do, you will need antibiotics. While waiting for your appointment, drink some cranberry juice, the acidic nature of the juice will help relieve some of the symptoms while you are waiting for your appointment.
