My daughter will be turning 7 soon and I'm trying to figure out what to do for her. She is to big for chuck e cheese and jeepers. She's a little lady so I'm trying to think of something to do for her. I was thinking movies or a skating party, but I can't skate and I'm not sure if she can. Any ideas would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

What can I do next?

There is a place in Orion on Baldwin Rd called Sugar Buzz. They do really cute themed birthday parties. For girls they have themes like princess, disco, tea party, etc. They can get a little pricey if you get all the extras, but they are really cute.

My son just celebrated his 10th birthday with a party at Pump It Up in Auburn Hills, MI. The place was incredible. Your entire party is private and you'll rotate into two arenas, followed by a party room. The facility is impressively clean and the staff very helpful. We purchased the deluxe goody bags and ice cream from them and brought in cake and some gold fish crackers. They have a party host assigned to you and two attendants in each arena. Everything is inflatable there.....but much better than I expected. We've been to Inflatable Planet in Waterford before and honestly, there isn't much comparison b/c Pump It Up is superior. My 7 year old daughter liked the photo's and video so much, she'd like to have her next party there as well. And...she's 100% girly girl. Here's their website if you'd like to take a peek. www.pumpitupparty.com. Their phone is: ###-###-####.

Hope this helps.

What about a sleepover for all her girlfriends and her. Maybe do a theme like a luau or 50's drive-in and have them get all their sleeping bags in from of the tv to watch a movie.. Even a dance party would be cool. What doe she like? Go with a theme that is along the lines of things she likes.. I remember my Mother hung platic records in our garage and gave me like a 50's dance party theme.. like a sock hop. My friends and I had a blast. She had yummy appetizers laid out and sweets. Good Luck!

Hi S.,

I have a great suggestion. I own a company called Super Science, based out of Canton, MI. We do really fun hands-on science programs for kids anywhere between the ages of 5-12. We do all kinds of programs for schools, libraries, girl/boy scouts, recreational centers, etc. But one of the most popular things we do is programs for birthday parties! I'm always amazed at how much kids absolutely love them. They are very unique and a great alternative to skating parties or Chuck E. Cheese.

How it works is we'll come to your party location and do one hour of 6-8 hands-on experiments with the kids and they'll get to keep at least two of the experiments we do to take home with them. If you want more information, you can check out our website at www.super-science.net. You can also call us at ###-###-#### or email us at ____@____.com for more information.

Good luck!

HI,
When my daughter was that age, I took them to one of those do it yourself pottery places. There was one in Royal Oak, on Orchard Lake in West Bloomfield, and downtown Farmington. I'm not sure who's still where, but they loved it. I went in before the party to see the pieces they could choose from to paint and have fired.

I'm sure whatever you choose, they'll have a ball.

My sister has all girls (ages 4, 6, and 7). They all LOVE to play dress up, as well as dance and do tea parties. My sister looks for costumes, dance recital cast offs and play clothes at rummage and garage sales. It's a great investment! For Bdays - Host a tea party. Dress up the tables with cloth napkins and tableclothes with a centerpiece (either floral or teddy bears). Then, intersperse small teddies in some of the chairs at the table. The website http://www.birthdaypartyideas.com/ also has some other great ideas! Good luck. (I have all boys - so we are doing a FIRE party - at the firehouse!)

At Lakeside Mall there is a store called Club Libby Lu (www.clublibbylu.com). When I saw it, I thought that could be such a cute idea for a girl’s birthday party.
Also, what about Great Lakes Athletic Club in Lake Orion?
Good luck

There is a great place in Plymouth called the Sweet Afton Tea Room that used to do children's birthday parties. Girls get dressed up and have pb&j tea sandwiches. If they still do it, a "little lady" would love it. phone # is ###-###-####

One thought is to take her and 3 friends to a Special Day at the Salon. (Too costly if larger.) My husband's stylist arranged to have us come in just before closing. Girls had nails and hair done. I was able to bring in finger sandwiches and petit fours as they had back lounge. Served pink lemonade in plastic champagne flutes. They thought this was the coolest! Cost as much as other parties at local venues such as Jeepers or Caesarland. Take home gift was nail polish, hair ties, and recipe for homemade facial mask 9safe for kids). They are still talking about 2 years later. A local spa may offer something for kids this age. Check it out in your area.

Skating seems to be the thing with boys and girls now. They get to listen to all the funky music. Food right there. 1 stop deal. Yes, the problem is some kids can't skate or skate well and end-up sitting down or hugging the railing most of the time. So, unless you know all can skate, go for the spa party.

There is a placed called Libby Lu....the closest is in Parisian in Rochester. They let her pick an outfit to wear , do her hair and makeup and then the kids dance to a song. Prices start at 20.00-30.00 for the different packages. My sister-in-law takes her daughter there once in a while. She loves it. It is a great place for younger girls to feel special. Hope this helps.
