I was interested in asking what you (mom's and dad's) would like to see more of in your community? More kid friendly activity places? Coffee shops? Art studios/craft stores? Shopping centers? Athletic facilities? Family friendly places?

Any one have recommendations of places they like to go to as a family or a place they can go to just to get away?

What can I do next?

I'd like to see a sitters co-op. We all need time away and the price of childcare is cost prohibitive. We could trade that out with each other and all save money.

BTW - why? Is this market research?

Praying in general : )

I'd like to send my kindergartner off to school and have him feel comfortable praying at school. How nice would it even be if someone would remind our kids at school that they are allowed to take a moment to pray silently before a test or meal.

I'd like to see schools focus more on helping the community. Identifying problems, solving problems, knowing what the communities offer for families and for the needy. Not just our community but a study of communities around the world...I think that would be interesting and beneficial.

More synergy. There are lots of things going on in the community and it seems like it would more effective and efficient if we worked together on projects and events. Especially for things like MartyMOMMA mentioned.

I do love our community. Allen is awesome : ) God bless Allen.

Since I live in the most popular tourist area I would LOVE to see people drive better, be courteous to each other and to stop littering. We really don't need anything else.

I know I am dreaming and that will never happen.

More things for teenagers and older preteens to do. I love our community and the people are very friendly, we have a fantastic park and there is a skate park for the older kids and a swimming pool. Theaters we go 30 miles to go to, also closest bowling alley is 30 miles away. Teens here seem to like to go out and party rather then have fun else where and because of that we have lost a lot of kids over the years.

Coffee shops around my neighborhood we need more here in U.P., WA! <insert sarcasm> :)

Honestly I would love to have more parks that are actually enclosed, heck one of my children's school yards isn't even enclosed. That fact bothers me a bit. I would also like to see more family friendly low-cost activities. As for a recommendation my family and I do enjoy going to the drive-in theater that's about a 45min drive due to the lower cost of admission even if you only decide to stay for one film.

more family things, like parades, shows, festivals, sales. Something that brings everyone out. Its hard to get them together because of all the rules and regulations. I just would like to see more Neighborhood block parties and appreciation picnics. In my old small home town, our 3 square block neighborhood was SUPER awesome about doing something block wide every month. I miss that where I moved too. Everyone is so scared to come out and talk to neighbors here.

Ditto all the other answers...

Friday night, Family dance hall without all the terribly loud music.

I can't stand attending the school dance functions that are purely for fundraising

I would like to see more coffee shops. The area I live in is predominantly LDS families and therefore not a lot of coffee drinkers, therefore very few coffee shops (1 Starbucks and 1 crappy coffee hut). I have to drive 20 minutes to find a decent coffee shop.
I would love bike lanes. We have LOTS of trails for biking nearby, which is great, but I would like to be able to bike to the gas station or grocery store, and it is just downright dangerous to do so.
I am super lucky to live in an area that totally caters to kids and families, though. Sooo much family friendly things to do, community events, sidewalks everywhere, lots of parks and splash pads, lots of nature/hiking nearby. Utah is a beautiful place!

Sidewalks and bike lanes. We have six lanes of speedy traffic bisecting our community. I have to hitch a trailer onto our SUV to load everyone's bikes in just so we can safely get to the bike trails. Also it would be lovely to ride to the library/park/ grocery store. Right now we can't safely ride anywhere.

I'd like to see more trees.. Sadly, some neighbors believe it's not good "Feng Shey" and although it's illegal to chop down a city tree, they manage to prune the trees to DEATH............ on purpose of course..

I'd also like to see more flowers/plants in front of people homes who have flower boxes just sitting with weeds in them...

Definitely would LOVE a great grocery store.. We have a Safeway nearby, but it's not as well kept as some other areas...

Lastly, I'd like to see more responsible pet owners in our area who clean up after their dog(s)...

Sidewalks. Most neighborhoods don't have any or they are in such bad repair that they're dangerous. The kids (elementary to high school) need to walk on the side of the street to get to school.
