When to Move the Crib Down

This may seem like a silly question but I honestly don't know. I have a 5 month old little girl who can roll over and almost sit up by herself. She sleeps in her crib at night and for all naps. My question is when do I move the matress down to the next level?

What can I do next?

I would suggest moving the crib down once your little one can pull herself up on her own

Once she can pull herself up you should lower the mattress. Don't even bother with the intermediate settings - we had to take ours all the way to the bottom when he would pull up, which was around 5-6 months.

I think you can lower it at any time. We lowered ours as soon as dd pulled herself up, but you could probably do it now. I don't really think it matters to them! I would also suggest dropping the mattress all the way to the bottom. The intermediate settings didn't seem to do much for us.

I also suggest skipping the intermediate settings and going right to the bottom. We had ours at the intermediate level once my son could sit up on his own (not waiting until he could get to a sitting position himself). BUT, it was a short time after we lowered it that I walked in one day and he was standing up! There was NO warning for this! He couldn't even get to a sitting position himself yet and I had NEVER seen him try to pull himself up EVER. It's only two weeks later now and there isn't a nap or night that goes by that he isn't doing laps around the crib either before he goes to sleep and/or once he wakes up (sleepsack and all). Have fun!!

We lowered our son's crib earlier than we needed to (he was about 5-6 months old) - and I regretted it for a while because it's much harder on your back when it's so low! I would wait until she can sit up by herself from a laying position (our son didn't do this until he was about 7.5 months old, to our surprise). We found our son sitting up in his crib one day but didn't actually *see* him do it for probably a week or so after we knew he could. Anyway, no harm lowering it early, but it *does* mean you bend over a lot more.

I suggest when she starts trying to pull herself up.

Good luck.

I suggest moving to the lowest one as soon as she can sit up. Once she can sit up, pulling herself up is the next step. So, you might as well be prepared and safe. You would not want her pulling herself up and not have the crib lowered. Better safe that sorry!
