We have three kids (4 yrs old, 2 yrs old and 5 mo old) a d we are trying to plan a mini vacation. We aren't too sure where to go. Does anyone have any suggestions that would be fub for the kids as well as us? We were thinking Disneyland but I don't think the baby could go on anything.

Another vote for the Monterey Bay Aquarium and surrounding areas. Awesome aquarium with a lot of kid-friendly activities, beautiful scenery, weather is usually pleasant and certainly won't get blazing hot like at Disneyland

We traveled for a few weeks in Costa Rica with our 3 yrs old and 4 month old and had a super time. We took buses around, but I'm sure you could rent a car. There are also beach resorts if you want to be stationary. Disneyland sounds awful.

San Diego is a good option. The Zoo, Wild Animal Park, Legoland and beach are just some of the things you can do in the area.

Hi A.,
Another vote for Monterey. The Aquarium, the beach, Dennis the Menace Park. There is one hotel that's actually on the beach, I think it's a Day's Inn. I would stay on Munras Avenue. Lots of small hotels across the street from the Del Monte Shopping Center - an outdoor mall with restaurants.

We did a staycation this year in the Bay Area. From El Dorado Hills I'm guessing you could day trip to Discovery Kingdom in Vallejo - plenty to do for the 4 and 2 year olds. Sausalito has the Children's Discovery Museum. Stinson and Dillon Beaches are great. Pope Beach at Lake Tahoe is also wonderful.

I haven't been to the Santa Cruz Boardwalk in years, but it certainly is driving distance from Monterey. Also, on the road between San Jose and Monterey is Gilroy Gardens (used to be Bonfante Gardens). I haven't been, but my cousin took a 4 year old and said there were plenty of rides and attractions.

Have fun!

I wouldn't recommend Disneyland with 3 small children. With all the crowds and waiting it seems like a recipe for cranky children. We always go to Monterey and Santa Cruz with the kids (2 1/2 and 4 months). We stay at the Monterey Marriott so we can walk to the Wharf and they have a great breakfast for kids. You can also walk to Dennis the Menace Park, which is the best park I have ever seen. You can also take the kids to the Aquarium and the older two will love it. Also, your older 2 can ride tons of rides at the Santa Cruz beach boardwalk. That is my 2 year olds favorite place to go. It is also nice weather and much more relaxing then a Disneyland trip.

San Diego would be tons of fun with the zoo, seaworld...
We went to Disneyland this past April for the kids first time (and my 1st time) And the kids loved it!! I dont think there is much for the 5month old..We had went for my daughters 5th bday and my son was 2yrs...We all had soo much fun and went on a weekday so it wouldnt be as crowded and it really wasnt too bad..and with the flash passes it was well worth it!! Especially with the young kids who cant wait in the 30min long lines...
