Where to Sell Nice, Non-designer Clothes

I have some good condition women's clothes that are NOT designer that I would like to sell. Three nice dresses, some slacks, some office-type shirts. I cannot find ANYWHERE to sell them. I get no hits off craigslist, they aren't trashy enough for Plato's Closet, and aren't designer so I can't consign them. I would like to make SOME money back because most of them have only been worn once or twice (or are new without tags). I'm not willing to set up a seller's account on ebay. Is there someplace like Plato's Closet but for actual adults? I'd like to stay in the Fort Worth/Denton area if possible. If you know someplace, I'd love to hear about it.

If it were me, I would donate them to the local womens' shelter because they truly need good clothes and appreciate them.

Many of the women get to the shelter with only the clothes on their backs as wellas their children.

The tax deduction is an added benefit for you. Everybody wins in this situation.

You might try Bella Rosa in Keller. I shop there, and they carry plenty of nice lightly worn normal women's clothes.

I know a lot of places near Dallas/Plano. Just google "resale shops" or "consignment stores" in your area. Otherwise your best bet is to have a garage sale or donate like the others said. Good Luck!

Every consignment store I've ever been to WILL take work clothes - suits, blouses, etc. I've never seen one that will only sell designer clothes. They've all been willing to take Banana Republic, Ralph Lauren (not the couture stuff, but the more casual stuff), White House Black Market, that kind of thing. Most of these places have the clothing divided into sections: cocktail dresses in one area, work suits in another, sun dresses, and so on. Have you been told your clothing is not suitable for consignment? If not, I'd try it. If one place won't take them (because they only specialize in a different type of clothing, or are looking for different sizes, maybe), ask them if they know of a store that would take that type of clothing.

If all else fails, you can always donate the clothing to a women's or family shelter. In our area, there's a shelter for abused women who are trying to get back on their feet, and this shelter is always looking for clothing that women can wear to interviews. A lot of the women literally have to leave everything they own behind, and so they have nothing to wear when they're interviewing for jobs. No, you wouldn't get money for it, but it's tax-deductible and would make a positive difference in someone's life. Just a thought!
