My daughter is on Nutramigen right now due to more colic issues then anything plus the colic was not really bad.. I am thinking about talking to the Dr about changing we have talked some about moving to soy but I am kinda scared to do that I have heard Good Start is a great formula to change to but I really just want to get some feed back on what other moms have done or used before I even consider anything she is going on 3 months right now. I am really just wanting like I said some info on what other moms have done and how it worked out for you..... Thanks so much..ALSO she does spit up alot... I do not know if that is because of what she is on or not

What can I do next?

all babies are different, but i can personally say that my daughter did soooo much better after we switched.....we were on nutramigen for 4 months and then to nestle (carnation) good start...i feel that i wasted $$$ on the nutramigen. i hope you find one that works for your baby!

If she is just on Nutramigen because of colic I am sure it would be safe to switch to regular formula why would you want to put her on Soy??? If she is allergic to milk then you need to keep her on the Nutramigen. I breastfeed my daughter, but had to supplement because of low milk supply. She had colic and reflux so we were put on Nutramigen, but once her blood test came back that she was not allergic to milk or lactose then we switched her to Enfamil Lipil and she started taking Zantac for reflux. Your daughter might have reflux so I would talk with your doctor if she is spitting up a lot. After about a month my milk supply adjusted to her needs so I stopped forumla all together, but she did do fine with the switch. I would just suggest that if you do switch formula's do it slowly. I would use 3/4 Nutramigen and 1/4 new formula keep increasing the amount of new formula every couple of days.

My son is now 16 and we were told to use Nutramigen back then for the spitting up. He did no different on it than the other formula. I switched him to a soy and then later to Good Start Follow Up and he did good. He still spit up but not as bad. Every child is different and you just have to keep switching until you find one that they can take. I also do inhome daycare and find that alot of people are leary of soy. They seem to think that if they are on soy, that the child will not be able to drink cows milk later and that's not true. My son did fine on cows milk once he went to it.

Good luck,
L.

My first was colicy and we tryed everything until she was on nutramigen.sp! Anyway i keep her on it the whole time and she did great. When she turned 1 we had to go to 2% not whole.I would keep her on it but that is just my advice.

Good Luck

I dont know much about Nutramigen, however, I have now had four friends, at different stages in their babies lives that have switched to Good Start on their Dr's request. They are not related to one another and all have different Dr's. My own child is on Good Start. There must be "somethin' in the puddin", as they say, to that.
Good Luck to ya'!!

Hello T.,
As, you already know children are very different. My first born daughter who is now 5 years old, had to be changed fromulas serval times until we found the right one. I was in the WIC program as well, so the cost was from the government. Well, my daughter had colic and acid reflux really bad so they put her on nutraimgen. It is really expensive and it has a smell also. After awhile, my daughter did good on it. AS of now she doesn't have acid reflux and is doing well.
My second born daughter who is now 3 years old well she didn't have any problems on formula. but, she is delayed and was born with a catract. But, other than that she is okay.
My third baby girl who is now 9 months old had problems with formula. She is now on prosobee. But, we had problems with her but, she is doing okay with the formula now. I hope everythign works out with your child. Gl.

Honestly, they suggested Nutramigen because of my son's reflux/colic but he spit that up worse...
We stayed the course with meds and soy formula.
I have heard people say they switched to that GOOD START (the one Brooke Shield's was endorsing for a while) and that calmed it.
GOOD LUCK!
