Seeking After School Care for Kinder

My son will be ready for kinder this coming year and I don't know what to do about after school care. He's currently in preschool that offers a full day program through elementary but I'd like to look at other schools as well. I'm having a hard time finding an after school program in my area. The schools I've looked into only have after care for 1st grade and up. I work full time. Any suggestions? Thanks.

3 Year Old Behavior...

Hello there...I am looking for new tricks to have up my sleeve when dealing with my 3 year old daughter. As of late she has taken to shrieeking when put on a time out. I also have not been able to get her to say "I'm sorry for _____" once she's out of her time out. She flat out refuses and walks away or says she "can't". She also has taken to talking or raising her voice over mine to repeat herself when told "no" in getting something. This she picked up from me due to my using it when she started repeating herself so say "noooooo" over her....

Drop-in Play Place (Without Mom)

HI Mom's, I have a friend with a 4-year old who would lke a couple of hours alone to run errands, get her hair done, etc. Do you have any suggestions for drop-in locations where they will watch your child for a couple of hours in a fun, clean, well-supervised location? She doesn't care where it is in the Chicago area (she lives downtown) because she'll shop nearby or find a hair salon to have her hair cut near the children's center. Day care centers want a daily commitment, and she only wants an occassional drop-in. Thanks!

Sick Child Care

Hi, All, What do you do if you work or attend school full-time, spouse is not around and your young children are mildly ill (with a slight fever, runny nose, cough, etc.) and thus cannot attend school? Here's my situation: I will start a psychology PhD program this fall. For my fellowship/stipend, I must take at least 9 courses per year, T.A. 3 sessions (quarters) per year, and do research. As well as a student, I am a 40+ mother of two children, almost 3 and 4 years old. My husband, a touring musician, is out of town (country)...
