4 Year Old Needs to Go to Preschool...

Hi Moms~ I am having trouble deciding about preschool and I could use some advice, particularly from those of you with a background in child development! My 4 year old is definitely ready for preschool. Problem is, he is very shy and hesitant to join a group of children or talk to another child, but once he does, he has a ball! I am expecting a huge battle. He has recently changed his view from "I don't want to grow up" to "I can't wait to go to school", but he is often brave right up until the last second, then chickens out! My...

3 Year Old Behavior...

Hello there...I am looking for new tricks to have up my sleeve when dealing with my 3 year old daughter. As of late she has taken to shrieeking when put on a time out. I also have not been able to get her to say "I'm sorry for _____" once she's out of her time out. She flat out refuses and walks away or says she "can't". She also has taken to talking or raising her voice over mine to repeat herself when told "no" in getting something. This she picked up from me due to my using it when she started repeating herself so say "noooooo" over her....

Homeschooling a 3 Year Old

Any advice on starting a cuuriculum for my 3 year old. I'm a SAHM and our budget is slim, right now I can't afford to get him into half day preschool. The least expensive I've found is $95 a week. So I've been seriously thinking of homeschooling him. What advice, websites and curriculum can be beneficial and easy to teach. Thanks moms

4 Year Old with Cavities

I am looking for other mother's experiences with the filling of cavities in children. I took my son to have it done and the whole experience to me seemed ridiculous (with a plastic nose with laughing gas, a metal thing that held open his mouth, a plastic "sheet" that covered the entire inside of his mouth). He did not have it done because he was too upset with everything. He is normally very good and calm when it comes to the dentist and Drs. Now his dentist is recommending sedation or being put to sleep for it. I refuse to believe the...

Help for Chipped Toddler Tooth

This past weekend, as my 22-month-old daughter was playing, she fell, hit her face on the floor, and chipped one of her front teeth (small chip, but noticeable). There was no blood or pain. Actually, she cried for a second because she was scared, but she got up after I comforted her and wanted to play again. I was able to find the tiny chip from her tooth and am holding on to it. Can there be anyting done, cosmetically, regarding this? My concern is that since her tooth will stay like this until her permanent one comes in, that it ...

Optometrist Vs. Pediatric Opthalmologist

My daughter failed her vision screening in school back in March. I took her to an optometrist who said her vision was borderline (20/40) and didn't want to prescribe glasses just yet. He said he wanted to check her vision again in 6 months, which is coming up in September. My mother has been urging me to take my daughter to a pediatric opthalmologist instead. Is there any reason to go to an opthalmologist instead of the optometrist? I find the optometrist/opthalmologist thing a little confusing. Thanks

Hi Ladies, I have a 4 year old who has started to grind his teeth at night. Not all night, but sometimes its so loud it sounds like glass grinding. I was wondering if anyone else has a child with this, I think its called Bruxism, how did you deal with it, besides with a mouth brace...I know my son won't go for it. Thanks again for any and all advice.

Having My Wisdom Teeth Taken Out

I'm having all four of my wisdom teeth taken out next week. I know one if not two of them will have to be cut out. The other two will be removed, but I'm not sure how (and won't know until I get there & we get the x-ray done). My question is, how long can I expect to be "out of commission"? I'm a SAHM of four & I don't have a great pain tolerance. I'm just wondering how long it will take me to be up & going again after having this done? I'm trying to prepare ahead of time (makes some meals, get the house together, arrange for...

4 Year Old Daughter Needs Orthodontics

I recently took my 4-year-old daughter to the dentist. He told me she has a cross bite(which is obvious when she closes her teeth). He felt it was important to immediately begin treatment with an appliance to expand the arch of her top palate. She's only four. I've never heard of starting orthodontics at this age. Does anyone have any experience with early orthodontics or any advice?

Please..................need Help with a 4 Year Old and 8 Month Old

Hello, Please someone help me with some advice on discipline! My 4 year old has gotten to the point to where he doesn't want to listen to anything we tell him to do. He will not pick up his toys after playing, he wants to watch tv all of the time and anymore, he fights me when it's time to eat. Oh, another thing, his underwear stays wet from urine. He uses the toilet, but I am constantly having to make him change his underwear and it is so frustrating because I don't know if it is a behavioral thing or what? He won't go to bed until 12...

The "tooth fairy" at my house has been saving the lost teeth collected. I get completely grossed out by teeth and have a complete fear of all things dental so I don't know why I'm saving them.
