I Need Sleep Advice for My 2 Year Old.

I need help! My son wakes up several times throughout the night. To get more sleep, my husband and I have been just bringing him to our room and letting him sleep with us, which I know we shouldn't do. His bedtime routine is bath every other day, fresh diaper, he picks his pajamas out, I wash his face and brush his teeth, then we cuddle and talk about our day for a couple minutes, then read a story or two. The problem is that he has to listen to his nature sound machine and have me laying on the floor next to him for him to fall asleep. I...

Woud You Take Your Child Back If This Happened?????/

I recently decided to enroll my daughter into Mothers Day Out for social interaction as well as personal time for myself! When I picked her up on Thursday she was acting unusual. She continued to cry, would not mention what was wrong, did not want to say anything to her teacher as we left! Her teahcer mentioned she was "defiant", and on her daily card she wrote "excessive defiance", and stated she had to put Ally in time out! However, Ally loves to play and usually gets right back into the groove of things as soon as possible! About 30...

Wondering If Son Is Allergic:(

My son is 15 months old and since he was born I have been going back and forth between Huggies diapers and Pampers. Really what ever is on sale and if neither I would buy Huggies. Well my problem is about 2 1/2 months ago he started to scratch his upper butt. At times it is really bad that it will bleed. It looks horrible again. Over the last months it seems to get better and then come back. Well right now it is really really bad. I was thinking about it and for the last 3 weeks it has just been huggies I have been using and is seems...

Father in Law Has Cancer

We just got the sad news two days ago that my wonderful FIL has cancer spread throughout his brain. They are running tests all day today to figure out what is going on and if he has it in other areas as well. He found out because he suddenly fell down...he has no balance and cannot walk as well as he cannot talk well. He is slurring his words. This is due to the pressure in his brain. They have given him steroids to bring the swelling down so hopefully that will help wi the pressure. We will know more tomorrow after all the scans/tests. He...

10 Month Old and His Darn Cough!

Mamas what else can I do for our 10 month old son's cough? He is going on 4 weeks of coughing and he just can't seem to get rid of it. He was on antibiotics about 2 weeks ago for sinus drainage coming out of his eyes. But the dr. said that the cough can last for a bit. I know I can't give him cough medicine or honey. He already has a humidifier/mister in his room at night and his bed is elevated. What else is there? He is coughing so much at night that he wakes himself up 5-6 times. Any suggestions would be great! On another note,...

Weaning from Breastfeeding

My daughter is 16 months old and still breastfeeding, in addition to eating 'adult' food. She can drink from a sippy cup or bottle, and has started drinking cow's milk at school. I don't mind still breastfeeding her at this age, but the frequency of it is driving me crazy. She will sometimes eat, stop, eat, stop, over and over. She just got over a fever that she had for several days, so I would get up when she cried at night because it was a pretty high fever and I did what I could to make her feel better. Of course last night, she kept...

Putting Eye Drops in a 2 Year Olds Eyes

I have a question, my son is about to be 2 years old. I took him to the doctor today and they told me he has pink eye. They gave him a perscription for eye drops. Now, it is one thing to give a 2 year old medicine, but eye drops? I have tried everything I can think of to get the eye drops in his eye but nothing that I have tried works. Does anyone have any ideas on how I can get the drops in his eyes? I have tried to put then in the corner of his eye by the bridge of his nose, but he just rubs the drop away. Does anyone have any...

Deal with Small Eczema Patch on Face

Hi Ladies, My 7 month old son has a small patch of eczema on his left cheek that won't go away. I called it his drool patch but he really doesn't drool on it anymore. Its been there on and off almost since he was born. Recently its been worst, looking crusty and very red for a few week straight. It doesn't seem to bother him and he doesn't scratch at it. I don't think it's a food allergy since he's had it while he was just breastfeeding. Any recommendations? I use the baby eczema cream on other small patches on his legs and get a...

Preparing Children For/coping with Impending Death of Grandma/mom from Cancer

How have you dealt with caring for a parent struggling with terminal cancer (or any illness, for that matter) and helping your children prepare for their death? How did you cope with strong emotions? How do you balance your life: work, caring for husband, children, parents, schoolwork, church service, etc.? I have four siblings who share in my mom's care (dispensing meds, walking with her to the bathroom, making meals, visiting, taking her to treatments, relieving my dad so he can go to the store, etc.) but we are all at odds...
