Acid Mantle (Cream Mixed with Hydrocortisone) - Is It Safe?

I have a 15 month old son who has extremely sensitive skin and had horrible ezcema (sp?) since he was an infant. We found out that it was mostly caused by an allergy to pet dander so we had to give up our pug. Well, we have been using a prescription cream on him called A-Mantle since he was about 6 months old that our Pediatric Allergist prescribed (who is associated with CHOP). This cream is a hydrocortisone mixed with some other type of cream. We use it on him practically every single day (since he still has ezcema). I specifically...

Vitamin for Baby with Allergies

I need a recommendation on vitamins. My son is allergic to a ton of things, and we're in the process of weaning. But so far all the vitamins I have found have orange, pear, wheat germ, or SOMETHING he can't have in them... Rather than googling infant vitamins and spending hours trying to figure out which has what, I thought I would ask here. The doctor sent me somewhere that didn't help, and he doesn't sell them, so I just need to find a multivitamin for my son (12 mo) so that when he's weaned (we also discussed this with the doctor), he...

Can Prolonged Use of Hydrocortisone Cream Affect Growth of Child?

Hello moms. My 18 month old boy has chronic eczema since he was 6 months old and have been using a hydrocortisone cream prescribed by our pediatrician. We have been applying this cream, a 2.5% formulation cream since he was an infant with varying degrees of eczema relief. He has needed it on a daily basis and we have been applying it twice a day to his ankles, wrists and behind the knee--the areas that are affected. We also use Aquaphor and pretoleum jelly emollients to relieve his dry skin. We have not asked our pediatrician though...

Help with Eczema

My 6 month old was just diagnosed with eczema and I am trying to get his breakouts under control. The doctors are not so helpful on what is causing it (basically saying it could be anything). At this point my poor son is covered in the rash and can't sleep because his normal self soothing method is rubbing his face with a snuggly and his face is raw. Have any of you dealt with this? Do you have any tips other than hydrocortisone on how to sooth my poor baby?

Advice on Toddlers Face Rash

My daughter is 20 months and she has this rash on her lower part of her cheeks on both sides, has anyone ever come across this? If so, what do you suggest? I was told by the doctor just to put some Hydrocortisone on it three times a day, it's dry probably due to the weather. This rash looks to have gotten worse to my husband and I. It looks like scaly skin, however not in a ring so no ringworm it just looks real dry and now has little patches of redness to it.

Help! First Time pregnancy/Mom at 36...whats with This Rash and My Feet?

Can anyone give me advise on the type of cream or what it is that I can do about this lovely rash that has developed under both of my breasts? The Dr says use hydro-cortisone with gauze, ok that helped for like a day and everytime I am hot (which is every day) it itches sooooo bad! Also, my feet are the size of tree trunks! I was told to limit my salt intake, drink lots of water and keep them elevated. So, then who does the wash, cleans the house and makes me food to eat? My husband works 60+ hours bless him, and is very good to me. The...

Excema During Pregnancy, Help!

My little sister is pregnant, and she is having major excema breakouts and all-over skin itching and rash. She is about 4 months pregnant. She has sensitive skin, and had excema as a child (she is 31). I suggested Sarna lotion, cocoa butter, and oatmeal baths which haven't wored well for her. Has anyone experienced this before, and what helped?

Doc Says to Start Rice Cereal at 4 Mo

Hi moms, At my son's 4 month check up appt this morning, the doctor recommended starting rice cereal. I'm just a bit weary of this and here is why.... Brayden was born 3 1/2 weeks early, and I have noticed in the last few months that he is slightly behind in his developmental milestones- Not anything to worry about as he catches up quickly. He is also in the low percentiles for growth, but again, I was told that he is within normal limits and that it takes a little time to "catch up" when they are preemies. ALSO, Brayden also has ezcemca...
