Tea Tree Oil. Plain tea tree oil, with no other oils or fragrances added. It can be a little pricey for full strength in such a small bottle, but worth every penny!!! You put in on with a Qtip and try to let it absorb, so maybe after a bath, once a day. The baby shouldn't eat/drink it, but it's not harmful if you get a finger in the mouth. (Tea tree oil dipped toothpicks are sold in stores.) It's just strong tasting like cinnamon or clove so baby probably won't like it. I always buy mine at GNC. Google "Tea Tree Oil" or "Melaleuca" the ACTUAL plant name and read about the properties. It is a wonderful plant oil. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Melaleuca

Do you breastfeed? I'd pump some milk and soak his toes in it. Breastmilk has natural anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties!

The regular LIsterine is great for killing the germs/fungus. This is the regular yellowish- orangey colored one, not the blue or green or orange ones. I used it on my daughter when I was out of tea tree oil, another option. It is best to soak in it for a few mintues but for him , you should be able to brush it on a few times a day. I did not have any problems with the toes or nail turning blue.

I would take him to the Dr. They'll prescribe him something.

I have heard that vick's vaporub will take care of it, also, hydrogen peroxide.

I tried Vicks last summer and although it seemed as though it may have been helping, it certainly didn't get rid of the fungus. I was a little inconsistent about it though (I put it on my toe before bed MOST nights). I'm going to try the tea tree oil myself.

I'd recommend getting your pediatrician's advise or seeing a dermatologist. Nail fungal infections are not likely in babies. There are many things that can result in funky nails, especially if it is all of the nails. Even a recent illness within about 3 months of the nail changes can make it look like there is an infection. So, I'd get a professional opinion before spending your time of treatments that may not be necessary. It takes several months for the toenails to grow out. So, if there is a systemic reason for the nail issue, you should see normal nail grow out (~1 mm per month) over time. Good luck!

i know this is weird, but listerine mouthwash. The antiseptic kills the fungus but turns the toenail blue. You'll just have to keep his toes out of his mouth. :-)
