Has Anyone Tried These New Shape Ups by Skechers?

I am just curious if anyone out there has a pair of these new shape up shoes that are supposed to trim your body while you walk because of the way the bottoms are thicker it somehow changes your posture and burns calories. They are not cheap so before I consider investing I'm just curious if I can get any testimonials. All the reviews on amazon seem to say everyone loves them and thinks they are comfortable but no one says if they change their body...

I have talked to 2 people who have them and absolutely love them. They both did say that you have to give them a little time to get used to but then they said their feet and legs felt amazing. They said it didn't help them lose weight but they said when they were on their feet all day, they their feet and legs felt great. These were ladies that are 50+. They now wear them any chance they get.

From seeing the commercials, I think it will help you build muscle and tone~ which will burn the fat, not help you loose weight.

I'm looking to shape up and was very surprised to have an early b-day gift of the Wii Fit system. So far that thing is kicking my butt as my balance is way off~ more so than I realized, but it is truly making a difference for me. Now, I am factoring in a healthy diet and portion control. That is the key to loosing weight, not some new-fangle shoe. (diet and portion control, that is...)

Hi K.,

My husband bought me the Reebok Easy Tones (same concept as the Sketchers) and I love them! They are super comfortable and look really cute too. I agree that they probably aren't for weight loss but more for building muscle/burning fat. I have worn them while working out and they gave me more of a challenging workout because it was harder to balance.

Hi K.!
I did buy myself some too! I walked around the house for a day in them and decided to return them. The only reason was because one was a bit tighter than the other. They were THE most comfortable shoes ever! I wound up buying some Asics, which are very comfy too, but I don`t think anything could compare to the Shape ups.

A friend of mine bought some too and walked for about a week, wound up in the E.R. with severe pain in her knee. They said she`d sprained it due to her walking in those shoes. She said she had to "train" herself to walk in them? Me, I just walked! haha I think because they are a higher shoe, you think you have to walk different. I did not do that! I just told myself to walk the way I always have.

If you're really considering them, I'd ask a chiropractor what they think of the shoe. Seems like they'd throw something out of place. ...like that other comment who had a friend who hurt her knee.

I really wouldn't count on them causing you to lose weight. It redistributes your body so that you use different muscles. It helps to tone the legs and bottom. Even that claim isn't really mentioned by people I know who wear them. The women I know that wear them say they feel so comfortable and that their back, hips, legs etc don't hurt like they use to. These are nurses who work 12 hr shifts on their feet. They wear them even when not working. Sketchers aren't going to help you use up any more calories than any other shoe. You would need to do the exercise yourself. It will help put your body in a better allignment though. Hope this helps, S.
