HI there! I'm looking for a new OB in the orange county area that can deliver at Hoag Hosp. in Newport Bch- we had a great experience at Hoag with my daughter 13mo. ago. I am only 4 wks pregnant so we have some time to take some suggestions. Last go around we were unhappy with my OB's bedside manner. He was a bit of a grump. Ideally, I would love someone that would respect my natural childbirth wishes. Thank you in advance!!

I HIGHLY recommend Jonathan Wheeler. He's across the street from Hoag. He delivered both of my girls, and I believe saved the life of my daughter and myself. He is an amazing doctor and wonderful man! Great bedside manner and dedicated to his patients!

I go to Newport Beach OB/GYN and it is across the street from Hoag. It is a busy office but I love them there. I see Dr Ricci and she is awesome. I was actually referred by a friend who is a nurse at Hoag and her and a lot of her nurse friends go to her. She said everyone in the group is great. The number is ###-###-####. Hope that helps.

A friend recommended Dr. Weatherford Clayton to me. I REALLY liked him. He is SO nice, and caring. His office is small, and he's the only Dr.there. Delivers 80% of his own babies. You won't be disappointed. His office is on Hospital Rd. ###-###-####
I never thought I would have a male OB, but I'm so glad I found him!

Good luck,

J.

Hi S.:

Please interview Dr. Susan Mendelsohn. She is a phenomenal woman and phenomenal ob/gyn. I first met her 11 years ago because she had delivered a friend's babies. I worked with that friend and Dr. Mendelsohn became the favorite OB/GYN of everyone at our office.

I go to Dr. Bernard Feldman. He is with Newport OB/GYN, in the same group as Dr. Ricci, which other moms recommended to you. I saw both of them with my last pregnancy. He was easy to schedule appts with, and I never waited more than ten minutes to see him. Just keep in mind that the chances of 'your' doctor delivering your baby are slim, especially if the doctor is with a large group. Many OBs will have the doctor on-call for the day deliver. Since you've already had a baby, you know that the RN does most of the work with the labor, and the doctor is barely there anyways. I am a nurse at Hoag & have met many OBs that deliver there. All are fully capable, so find a doctor that is convienent to get to, easy to see, and one you are comfortable with. Hoag has very high standards, so you'll be in good hands no matter what!

Hi S.,

I wish I knew about this website earlier in the year. I have a GREAT family doctor. He delivered my now 13 month old and is our whole family's doctor. He's in Huntington Beach and his home hospital is Hoag. Unfortunately, he will no longer be delivering babies beginning 2008. However, if you get in prior to the end of the year, he will take you as an OB patient. It's up to you if you would like to try him out, but I've been looking for a doctor for years and am sooooo glad I found him. I'm just a little upset that he will no longer be delivering. Anyway, his name is Dr. Bart Barrett.

Good Luck!

I enjoyed my experience at South Coast Midwifery in Irvine. We had a water birth with our fourth child and the respect and understanding of the women caregivers is unparalleled. It was relaxing and as close to a home birth without being at home. Good luck.
