Recommendation for Baby Monitor

I have 2 monitors that I couldn't live without! The first is an Angel Care monitor that picks up baby's movements (or lack thereof!) So you can sleep at night knowing your baby is breathing. It is very sensitive, so you must test it. I cannot leave the ceiling fan on in my toddler's room or it will sense that as her moving. GREAT MONITOR IF YOU ARE A WORRIER!

The second is a Summer handheld video monitor. It is AWESOME! I can tell by looking if my daughter is just playing or really needs something. It has night vision, so I can see her very clearly even in the dark. I didn't get this one until she was almost a year old, and I don't know what I did before it!!

PS There is another video monitor out there that can monitor more than one room at a time. It is by Mobi Cam. Just Google it, and you will find them. I think mystroller.com had the best price, but it is the older model. I heard they are good, and if I ever have a second child, I would give them a closer look.

We have the Sony Babycall (don't know all the specifics) and think it works just great. It doesn't have any bells and whistles -- it's just a good quality baby monitor.

I have just had my first baby - a little girl - and researched all products beforehand pretty thoroughly and found the most recommended/ best reviews for the Sony 900MHZ BabyCall Nursery Monitor (27 channels). It has been great, clear reception, and no problems. It was recommemded to me by my sister-in-law - who also suggested not to get one that detects motion, otherwise you will be up all night! I agree with the other mothers who recommended the Angel Care sound and movement monitor. It's so nice having that peace of mind knowing that if your child stops breathing or is removed from his bed, the alarm will go off. The sensitivity is easy to control, which is good because as another mother mentioned, the slightest movement to the baby's bed, like the air from a ceiling fan, can keep the monitor from sounding off when it should. It also works as just a regular sound monitor when the movement feature is not needed. I do not know how I made it without one of these when I had my first child. Well, actually, I do know - I checked on her several times a night. Now I have a monitor that does that for me. The monitor costs about a hundred dollars, and it's well worth the money to me for the added sleep I get. Congratuations on your pending bundle of joy and good luck! :-)

we have the summer ivy video monitor and LOVE it. it's great to see if they are sleeping, playing, need rescuing, or whatever. we used it when my son was an infant and then when we had my daughter we moved it into her room. their bedrooms are close to each other (we're on the other end of the house) so at night we just keep the bedroom doors open and we can actually clearly hear sound from his room as well (but no video in his room). it's worked great for us. good luck in your choice and congrats!

After trying almost all the non-video type monitors on the market, we found Sony Baby Call. It has a setting that is "voice activated" or on. It works great and you can actually sleep at night! We now have our second child and I have two set on different frequencies.

We also were given a security camera that can be hooked up to "see" what is happening in the room without going into the room. I think it is less expensive than the traditional video monitors and does basically the same thing.

I'm about to have my second baby, too. My son is going to be 18 months old when his little sister gets here, so I wanted one I could use for both of them. I actually bought a new monitor about a month ago and have been using it for just my son. It is a Safety 1st 900 MHz Home Connection Monitor that can monitor up to three rooms at once. It's the only one on the market that I've been able to find that can monitor more than one room. It works great. It was about $130 - a little pricey, but I think it will really be worth it. I read lots of reviews and there were some positives and negatives, but I've had a good experience with it so far and would definitely recommend you giving it a look if you want one that can be used for both kids.
