Spanx orTarget Brand

I have an event in a couple of days and my favorite LBD is a bit snug around the hips. I was going to get a pair of the Target spanx, but was curious on your thoughts. Do they work just as well as Spanx or should I just go get the name brand? Have you tried both? What are the differences?
Thanks ladies!

So What Happened?

Such great info! since I am on a budget, I am going to test out the Assets brand - in the bike short variety as that is where I need the slimming effect.
Appreciate you all!

I have used both. Spanx is great. They stay in place after. The target brand and other brands flexi - don't stay up after pulling them up and down a few times. Imaging standing up and the top rolls all the way down. Spanx does not do this. It stays put.

Don't buy twice! I love store brands for just about everything and I love Target stuff, but SPANX is where it's at! The other brands I've tried don't compare.

I'm a pageant girl and I know a thing or two about fitting into that perfect dress, I've used off brands only, never got the spanx and I've never had a problem, try them on and make sure they dont move when you do, that is great advice! I've bought from Walmart Target and TJ maxx... I think the brand I have most if is called "Barely There" or something like that. also I prefer the bike short cut over the panty cut because then I don't get a big panty line, but you do have to watch the bike short line on your thigh depending on your dress. Walmart had a panty shaper that had a no panty line feature and that did a little better than the previous pantie I bought, I also like the full body/bra shapers because they give you a very smooth look, it just depends on the dress.

good luck and have fun!

If you are looking to wear them a few times, then go with the cheaper brand. However, if you want to keep them for a long time definately go with Spanx. Mine have last for years, but the cheaper brands wear fast.

I was just talking with a friend of mine the other day and she told me all about the Target Spanx, Assets, and how wonderful they were...especially for the price. I have heard that they are not as high quality as their Spanx brand but if you only plan on wearing them occasionally and not every day I would highly recommend not shelling out all that money for the more expensive brand. If you do buy Assets just hand wash them or put them in you washer on the gentle cycle and allow them to air dry. This will keep them in better shape and will make them last longer.

I think Spanx is where you should spend the money. You don't want to have to be constantly readjusting your undergarments all night long.

Target sells Assets, by Spanx. I'd get the less expensive ones.
