Tamax Pearl- Is It Just Me?

I don't know how long ago Tampax went to Tampax Pearl, but I know its been a while. I shop at Costco and buy whatever brand they sell, so have been using them awhile. But it just seemed to me that after an hour or two I needed to change them, not to mention they had a tenancy to slip and be uncomfortable. I used to be able to go 3 or 4 hours without leaks and don't remember them slipping out of place. So I finally got around to purchase a different brand and sure enough, I could wear them for several hours no leaks, and stayed in place. I'm just curious if anyone else has noticed the same thing?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I think I just puked in my mouth a little thinking about menstral cups. Flash back to every miserable failed attempt to use a product that required inserting fingers all the way up my vagina to fit something to my cervix. No thanks. Cotton good.

Now now, lets not resort to name calling just because I made a juvenile joke about pools of mental blood and was a total diaphragm and Nuvaring inserting failure.

IamAK, yes perhaps I've struggled with the tampons falling out because I just had my third baby. Great! Now I get to feel bad about not being able to insert things properly onto my cervix as well as apparently having loose vagina muscles.

Can we all just relax (like my vagina muscles)? I'm just making jokes over here. No one offended me and I'm sorry if my jokes were offensive to anyone else. I just wanted to lighten the tone after the name calling. But apparently I'm not good at toning anything. ( That was a Kegel joke). Okay I'm done.

I could never understand why Tampax was always the number O. brand!
I always hated Tampax.
Playtex or OB is the way to go.

Wow... so, some of you reported Christy Lee's very sensible post because she was offended that H. got all huffy? Listen, H. ASKED for advice and when she didn't like the advice given, she turned around and made immature comments herself.

Why couldn't Christy Lee speak up for herself? What's wrong with her saying "Hey, you could have just taken a pass on this instead of talking about 'puking in my mouth' ". We are supposedly all adults. Can't the onus be on H., who is asking the question, to take the more mature route of just saying "Oh, that's not for me, but thanks". I can understand why Christy felt insulted. It WAS insulting that she offered a suggestion and wasn't given the dignity of any politeness.

Read H.'s past posts. Her tone IS judgmental and very holier-than-thou looking down upon others. My post may be reported too, but I really don't care. If Christy Lee is the offensive party here... well, some mental gymnastics had to happen to get to that point. She stood up for herself in the face of an insult. Good for her.

Actually, Christy Lee gave you a very thoughtful answer with a good solution to leaking, slipping tampons. Your response seemed pretty rude.

I don't care for Tampax Pearl, so I use regular Tampax. I am thinking of switching to a menstrual cup, though. Did you know that using a menstrual cup can make your period shorter and even reduce or eliminate cramping?

Only you can decide what's right for you, but we should be gracious about other's choices.

It's not just you. Personally I love Tampax and actually prefer Tampax Pearl, but I think a lot of it has to do with women's bodies being different shapes and sizes.

My kids always wore Huggies and leaked like crazy with any other brand. Not my sister's kids. They only ever wore Luvs. Kids are built differently, and so are women.

Use what works, right?

By the way. I'm surprised anyone took offense to your comment. You don't want to try the cup? No biggy. Other's can if they what. Don't remember you criticizing them for using one. You just said you'd prefer not to.

I'm with Laurie. I use the super jumbo plus orange Tampax with an overnight Kotex pad and have to change them both every hour. As much as I wanted to use the cup, it just wasn't going to happen.

I love the Diva Cup, but understand if it's not for you. I've used it happily for many, many years. To each her own.

Any brand tampon that came with an applicator worked terribly for me. If I was stuck with one with an applicator in a pinch I would take the tampon out and put it in myself. OB was the only one I could use with any success.
I also found that for a while after my kids were born and my periods came back I would have issues with the tampons slipping some. The muscles were weak and having trouble keeping them in. I went up to a larger sized tampon then the one I really needed until the muscles regained their strength to hold the tampon in and not try to expel it instead. It didn't take long at all.

I just want to know why they all end in X... Playtex, Tampax, Kotex.... What's up with that?

And I get the joke - juvenile, maybe offensive, but I couldn't use a cup. I don't like OB because they don't have an applicator. No problem with sex, my body, my husband, or anything like that. I just don't like getting my hands messy. Yes, I wash them, yes, it's natural, it just icks me out. Oh well - glad for others that can.

And since having kids, my periods got very heavy for about 10 years, and no tampon alone was enough. But in the past year, periods have suddenly become very, very light. But no, I've never liked Tampax.

You know now that you mention it, I think I used the Tampax Pearl brand once or twice and didn't like it. Probably for the plastic applicator, but it might have been an absorbancy thing. Anyway...I use regular Tampax (cardboard applicator) and they seem as absorbent now as they always have. I used to use the store brand but in the past few years, found that the stupid plunger tubes on the bargain ones would get stuck and not actually push the cotton thing up and in. What a mess!

And not to make you feel bad, but I also had to move up to larger sizes after my kids were born and after a while (can't remember how long) was able to go back down to regular/super instead of super/super plus.

I've totally used Tampax my entire life, but I'm an old school cardboard tube girl, not the pearl ones. I do have at least one day of my period that I have to change it every two hours, but I figured that was due to no longer being on the pill and having an IUD instead.

And I'm sorry but I'm with you on the ick factor of the cup and even non-applicator tampons. And I am very comfortable with my body, just not necessarily with my menstrual blood!

For a little more depressing news, my mother told me how before she had her hysterectomy she would have to use TWO super plus Tampax at once!

Wait until you are older, there are times when I have to change tampons every 45 min. So I used the largest sized tampons on the market. I also do not care for the cup. Mainly because I have a hard time gripping, I can only imagine the disasters that would happen to me.

The pearl seem to be for smaller younger women.

It's not just you. When Tampax began selling Tampax Pearl, I started using them, but realized that they don't work as long. So I reverted back to the older Tampax tampons -- the ones with cardboard applicators.

I hate Tampax, too. Unfortunately, I decided to give them a try when I had a super discounted coupon at a wholesale store. I've had to wear them just because I hate to see them go to waste. I swear every month, it seems like the number has multiplied in the box.
I have been a loyal Kotex tampon user for years and years. I'll definitely be going back to those after this vat of Tampax tampons are used up.
