Well Baby Check Up

At my son's two year check up the doctor didn't say anything about when she would like to see him next. Do they go in for a two and a half year check up or are we good until he's three? I'm not sure if he is done with all of his shots by age two. So if anybody knows what schedule their pediatrician has them on it would be great. Thanks!

What can I do next?

You wont need to go back until he is Three. Unless you get flu shots then when they come out you will need to go get one of those.

DD#2 just had her 2 year well visit in April and she doesn't need to go in until she is 3. As for shots, well, that will depend on the pediatrician. Mine gives shots at 3, no shots at 4, then back to shots at 5 (this is the regular schedule- I know some parents pick and choose their shots)

At my son's 2 year check up, our doctor told me that check ups are optional from now on. At least untiil he needs to be checked out for school. He said some insurance companies cover well checks after two and some don't. So, it's important to check with your insurance. It's really up to you.

When my daughter had her 2 yr check up they told us that she did not have another well baby appt until she was 3. And that we would need to call about a month or two prior to her 3 yr b-day to get it scheduled. She is up to date on shots as well.

He should go back when he is three for the next wellness check. At that time the doctor will give him any shots he needs. It is weird that your doctor did not tell you that. The doctor I have always said to me as they were leaving I will see you when he is three or if he gets ill in between now and then.

He should only need to go back for a three old well child. If shots are needed they give them then to prepare him for school unless they wait for the shots until he is 4 it depends on the doctor. He should go back once a year for a well child check. Hope this helps

Hi,
I'm not sure about the shots, but I know that we have a 2 1/2 year check up tomorrow. That's changed I think recently...I don't remember my older 2 having check ups at that age. Could be sleep deprivation :) I think maybe there is an extra MMR booster. My daughter had hers earlier than normal due to the measles scare. Call your peds office to find out if you need to make an appt. Hope this helps a little. Take care.

Hi! After age two we just had one a year. The next time he will need shots is at 4 or 5 to get ready for Kindergarten. I had my son get his at 4 so we could get them out of the way and done with. Hope this helps! :)
